Wastegates are rattling. This is a known problem mainly in the US. As far as I know it's not a major concern other than sounding bad, but will sometimes make it hard for the car to maintain consistant boost.

Provided you're stock, I'd take it in. They will then update the software which is unlikely to do anyything, then they will have to replace the wastegates and or turbos in some cases I beleive.

Ill make an appointment for them to check it out. I bought the car second hand and ive been worried about something being off with the car. Hopefully they will replace the wastegates and even the turbos so i can know that its all new and hopefully wont have to worry about it for a while.

Any suggestion on what i can say to them when i make the appointment other than "my exhaust buzzes and i think its my wastegates" ?

You all are sure its not the exhaust flapper??
b1gmac have you been able to locate where the sound is coming from?
If it's the wastegates you'd hear it when you open the hood. If you hear it from the left exhaust tip its likely a loose part on the flapper.

Man I just noticed the same sound in my car; which I shipped over form the states, but the actual sound is coming from the engine, but it only happens when the oil temp reaches 250...

Did the dealer give you any info??

What kind of sound would be coming from the engine? There's a real loud sound coming from the left side of the engine near where you put the oil in. Its what my old car used to sound like when I had the AC on. It cant be a flap noise because I have the golf tee mod and the flap doesnt move..

Idk

i had done the golf tee mod on my 335 and about two weeks later, my car started making this rattling sound and i was losing boost and i was getting bad turbo lag

took it into the dealer and they found that the actuator was faulty and the reason i was having lag was due to having done the mod haha so try plugging the actuator back in before taking it to the dealership

in my case they ended up replacing my whole exhaust system (on a car with 4000 miles...) but it was covered under warranty

i hope this helps!!

Thanks that helps a lot. I think I am going to just go into the dealership in a couple days after un-doing my golf tee mod and see if they notice the noise.. that is if its still there..

thanks
