Park Distance Control

I just ordered my 330 with PDC and i was wondering if they alerts were only audible beeps or they also include visual meter like the ones in Mercedes Benz.

thanks

when do you see it on the nav screen? Do you have to press a button or is it automatic?

Here's what you see on the screen (but in the U.S. obviously you'll only get the rear PDC graphic representation)

Is PDC available as a dealer/aftermarket add-on? My car (no iDrive) was configured missing this item and it'd be nice to get it added on.

I think from what I remember, it's rear-distance sensing only... (which is fine, since the rear distance of the E90 is the hardest to gauge)

thanks!

As long as your Navi screen is activated, the PDC display (rear only) comes up automatically when the car in shift into reverse.

I don't have IDrive, so I don't get the visual display...

But a really cool feature is that the sound indicating where the hazard is, comes from that side of the rear! So if you are reversing and something is close to the car on the drivers side, the chime comes from that same side of the rear!!

I got it, it doesn't beep until you get closer to the object. On my screen I think it doesn't beep until you get green going to yellow. Then as you get closer and closer it beeps faster.

There is one now in Europe, but as far as I know the USA one hasnt been released yet

They are still working on "Retrofit" software for the E90, so when they finish that they will probably release a whole bunch of retrofit kits

Yeah, the beeps come in surround sound, I remember that from my dad's 745i.
It sounds really cool.

Why don't they have the forward sensing the US? Is there some US regulation that says car drivers here should have to guess how far they are in the front?
