No iDrive, yet still fully loaded
Fully packed my car with about 180 pounds on the roof and 700 pounds inside (including passengers). Made the drive from Chicago to NYC (850 miles) and averaged 23 mpg with an average speed of 65 mph. Car handles very well on flat road, but struggled quite a bit going through Pennsylvania on I 80.

Did you stop at Starbucks or Subway? Sorry I'm quite hungry at the moment.
My car can barely carry a rear occupant without continuously rubbing in the rear.

I80 through PA isn't fun. Well, in general, PA roads are terrible.

With the additional weight and super non-aero roof stuff the car was getting 10-14 mpg for the 300 miles of mountain PA terrain. That was driving in 5th gear at about 70 mph. On some sections where even truckers are going 90-100 mph, I was going 80 mph and got about 6-7 mpg.
I didn't have that much stuff so no need for U-haul. Still, I carried: two people one 55L duffle one 30L duffle two 36L backpacks one 39" TV one 21" monitor one set of small speakers one carry on luggage one full size lugage one vacuum cleaner one mountain bike (Santa Cruz High Ball!) a lot of tools four years of engineering and business textbooks haha In all, 700-800 pounds of stuff. |
