Fuel Pump Problems Manufacturing Location

Has anyone determined if there any relationship in fuel pump problems related to manufacturing facility (i.e., Regensburg or Leipzig)?

That's what I asked but got no answer. Since it is not built date related, I wanted to see if the location has a factor in it.

Mine was built in Regensburg. Jan 07 built date...6100 miles now. No signs of failing pump at all.

Is the pump itself made in Germany, or is it China or Mexico? Is it Bosch?

I was told by a SA that the pump is made by Siemens (ditto for the fuel injectors, I think)

My car was built in Leipzig in early April. No problems so far with fuel pumps. I accepted delivery in early May. No problems and have finally broken engine in at 1200 miles. I have been very gentle in breakin period but ready to let loose now. FPs have me concerned.

Yes Siemens was the old maker, but now BMW has switched to Bosch.

My thinking was the problem with fuel pumps may be associated with a production series we could isolate.

Urnone. I was asked that question earlier. There were some threads several months ago. I will see what I can find.

Has anybody had a 2nd and/or 3rd pump fail? I am seeing more 335's on the road now, mostly E90's. Today I saw what I thought was a 325, but then I saw the 335 on the trunk and the dual exhaust...was because it had no ZSP that I thought it was a 325.

I've seen someone say only 3% of cars are affected? And I also saw that someone questioned why is BMW putting the same pump in as a replacement. And isn't it a $1400 job? Good luck all, hope I'm not affected knock on wood....

This already has been proven false. Members have failed pump from Sept 06 to March 07 built dates with varying mileages.

The problematic HPFP's were built by Siemens VDO. I have not yet seen vaildation whether the stories of a change to Bosch as the supplier is valid or not? Who cares where the assembly took place?

There's no validation of anything, period. Every single post on this subject is pure speculation.
