Inpa service (brake) reset

Hello guys,

I've changed my rear brake pads and replaced the sensor, but I am unable to reset the service indicator for rear pads from the instrument cluster, using the instructions posted all over internet.

Now I have bought a cable and INPA software and successfully configured it. I can read everything, just don't know how to write stuff

Anyone knows how to reset the service items using INPA ? Car is E90 325i euro

Thanks!

Is INPA similar to the BT Tool?

On my E46 I found options to reset the service intervals under Body -> Instrument cluster and then it was in one of those menus.

Similar, but INPA is the oem bmw software. What's really cool is NCS expert which lets you code options dealers can't even do.

Can a new battery be registered using INPA?

For as much as INPA is praised, it is also criticized a lot for not being user friendly compared to the BT Tool. Is this true in your experience? I'm debating buying the cable to use on my 2007 328i Sedan. Would you recommend it?

Search for INPA cable and you'll find it. Seems quite inexpensive compared to the BT tool but I do not know how the INPA cable & BT tool compare against each other.

Is the sensor an aftermarket sensor? If so, replace with a BMW part from the dealer and then try this http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=360706

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

this thread is epic fail... you don't need software to reset your service lights.
heres a video I made awhile back showing how to reset the service lights through the original menu.

DimSum, your procedure does not work for some people, like the OP.

Sorry for thread hijack. INPA, WinKFP, ISTA (what are they, are they the same software). The name is used very loosely all over the net and based on your search, you get different result and it just get too confusing. The other issues is because these software takes a while to download and installed, I really want to just focus on one software but after reading many of the online discussions I get even more confused than when i first started out.

Ok back to topic.

Update- This is the answer. change front sensor too.

Update: Hi everyone. cutting and pasting the answer to my (and it seems several others') conundrum with the rear brake light warning indicator:
-----

I've seen a handful of people with this same problem so I hope they find this post.

The dealership fixed this. At the time of the problem my front brakes had eaten well into the front brake wear sensor. So for some reason I could not reset the rear brakes which were new with a new sensor.

After about an hour of fiddling around, they plugged a new wear sensor into the front brakes location (electrically only, I assume)

Then they were able to reset the rear brake maintenance warning.

After than I am assuming they removed the temporary front sensor from the wiring (because how could you install it when it's thicker than the pads?)

They seemed annoyed, writing "This took an hour" on the invoice statement. At first I felt bad but now I feel that it's their own problem that resetting the rear warning is impossible without a fresh front wear sensor.
