Improving throttle response and lag with a tune

Folks,
My modding progress is underway, and includes: PSS Tires in 245/275 widths, Quaife, hybrid street/track pads, slotted rotors, SS lines, rbf600 fluid, ETS 5" FMIC, Setrab 34-row oil cooler, stock airbox with K&N oiled filter. I am interested in tracking my car, and I care more about thermal stability, braking capacity, traction, and throttle response than I do about adding 100HP.

That all said, I'm starting to consider a tune primarily in the interest of improving engine responsiveness and being able to tune the boost surve to my liking. I'm leaning towards the Procede, but that does not mean I think the Cobb or JB4 are comparably bad, so let's not go there. I'm open to other suggestions but I'm not ok with this devolving into a pissing contest.

What I want to know is if the Procede (or other tune) can either out of the box or with some tweaking significantly improve throttle response and reduce lag? Ideally I would get downpipes and a DCI to really combat lag but I want to limit the amount of engine mods which are not quickly reversible for service while my car is still in warranty. If anything, I might even run stock max boost levels on the track to keep temps and stresses down.

Thoughts?

All the tunes are adjustable. On the JB4 end you'd use the G5 ISO and then you adjust default wastegate position (which can be done right in dash) to suit your throttle response liking.

Thanks Mike. Are there other adjustments as well besides wastegate on the JB4 to affect response?

Wastegate adjustments are the best way to get "response", boost response, anyway.

That is the only thing that will make a difference.

Of course you could probably jump into something like changing the throttle tables but it's really not necessary.

However, something like Cobb does offer a Linear or Sport Map, which translates into a linear boost response, or a more aggressive up front boost response. The latter, sport, is what you would like if you were interested in a flash tune like Cobb.

The JB4 and the PROcede have wastegate adjustments in their user adjustables. Once you get any tune you will realize there is plenty of power on tap and very rarely do people mess with default settings.

Thanks fellas for your insight.

Does the stock wastegate control leave a lot on the table? Is it leakage?

ALso, doesn't the Procede also offer boost response tables like the Cobb? Does the JB4?

Sure, you can adjust maximum boost target by RPM (which is then linearly mapped on throttle, etc). There is a special map 6 a lot of the guys with the 335is run. Maybe some of them can comment on it. The JB4 also has an autotuning map built in, race gas map, non-turbo map, factory mapping, etc, that you select right in dash.

Lots of options

Maybe the sprint booster would be an option for you. It's not a tune but from what I understand it works. Maybe someone who has one can chime in

Found a deal on a used G5 JB4 so I picked it up- if I don't like the adjustability I'll try the Procede!

Thanks fellas.
