335I Waste Gate rattle issue.

since one half and year, i have WG rattle on my 335i 07, stage 1.

yesterday i put for the first time my BMW on dealer with TIS buletin, which mentioning the manufacturer default, so thy reprogram integrally the DME (bye bye stage1 --> now stock) etc, now rattling is little less present only from 3500 rpm to 3000 rpm.

i don't know what is the software version that they put, on my E92 335I 07 which was produced in 12/06.

since i had the car, i say that it had never update on it. i think i will change the turbo by new with last reference, because like you mean it is a big job to remove both turbo (10 hours), and my car had 113 000 km so decide to ameliorate existing turbo , i think it is a litte risk i futur...so i think it is better to put new...?

is someone who has put new turbo 11657593015 & 11657593016 have problem after swap ip ?

The wastegates can be replaced without replacing the whole turbo, however they must be set up with a BMW special tool to set the wastegate actuator linkage length. You must also remove the turbos from the engine to replace the wastegate actuators.

Controllers such as the Procede can also reduce or eliminate the rattle by changing the Wastegate Position variable. http://vishnutuningforum.com/viewtop...f398762ceacabe

Check your vacuum pump. On my car I had horrible rattle and they first did software. that did nothing but give me lag. then they did new wastegate actuators. that helped for a short time and then it came back with a vengeance. then they did all new turbos. 1200 miles later it came back. that’s when they found the vacuum pump was worn out and couldn’t' hold enough vacuum to keep the wastegates closed properly. since they replaced the pump 6 months ago its been fine. I also got the lag fix retrofit in the software so performance is like how I remember it from 2006 when I bought my car.

Those are just manifold pressure/vacuum readings, I suspect you maybe trying to acquire readings from the vacuum reseviors as applied to the actuators? Either way, your turbos seem to be operating correctly and your engine is making typical vacuum. It's doubtful you have any issues with the actuation of the wastegates.

As you see with experience of the realm3, in his case this is vaccum pump which is responsible of trouble wastegate rattle.
Sometimes in 95% of case this is due to actuator , and rod wastegate but our case seems to be different, because both turbo has just been changed by my dealer BMW.

So now i ask them to verify test pressure of this vaccum pump???

Interesting news, thanks for posting. I have terrible wastegate rattle as well, and I was wondering did you ever get any limp modes? If so what code?

I plan on upgrading to RB turbos, because I really love my car but I also REALLY hate the rattle and if I have to buy new turbos anyway I might as well get better ones that will not rattle

When i was on stage1 sometines limp mode but just only on deceleration when normaly driving.
Now i m fully stock, and rattle is already here, so like both turbo have been replaced, i don t know , what is responsible of this rattle.

Probably vacuum pump like mean therealm3 in his post reply, and it seems plausible

Cool thanks. I'm getting an occisional limp with a boost leak code (30FF), but the weird thing is that I only get it either under very long pulls or decceleration, so I'm starting to suspect my vaccum pump as well, since I can run map 7 on my JB4 with around 17 psi pulls in 6th gear no problem.

Please let us know how it goes with the replacement of the pump, it may be a possible solution for me as well.

No clue, I only do vary basic stuf myself as I don't have a garage to work in, so I'd have to have my mechanic look at it, but it'll have to wait until after New Years since he is on holiday

I have terrible rattle, so let me know how this goes. There's a constant rattle at idle and a buzzing noise as the turbos kick in when I drive, lasts about a second or two.
Also the slight gurgling noise our cars make when the revs fall is much longer and louder, as if the waste gate is just flapping around.
Anyone have issues like this/what solved it? I don't mean to thread jack, and let me know if your vacuum pump fix works

Is it possible to hear WG rattle all the way from just off idle to 3500 rpm? I hear my WG rattle on throttle input, a lot of people say it's an off throttle condition. Can anyone chime in?

As I'm out of warrantee, I have tried to avoid the dealership as I know the one near me will just pop on new turbos, putting me several grand out of pocket. If it comes down to that, I might as well put RB's on or something. I've tried adjusting the wastegate from under the hood, but that didn't really help. I would like to get it up on a lift, remove the downpipes and try to manually adjust the wastegate from there, but I haven't had the time to yet. And thats pretty intense labor for something that may not work.
