lol
I've never seen a shop NOT use a tq wrench. That would be very irresponsible.

I tighten my wheels firmly, but dont put a lot of body into it. I've never had an issue. I think the problems can start when using air tools.

I'm a noob when it comes to using a torque wrench...

Is 1/2 in drive the size I need?

Is this one good?

http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

Also, is 88 ft-lbs the right measure for all cars or just our cars?

Yes that torque wrench will do the job, is it good......well it will defiantly work for your needs. Most BMW's are 88ft-lbs (your is) but not all cars.

I'm cheap so I use this adapter on my breaker bar as a torque wrench. Plus I think this solves the problem of calibration.

Im glad most of you guys use them, but in the real world tech/mech flagging cars already have a preset on their impact guns. Just get the right feel and youll live.

Not at my shop, every single wheel is hand torqued and then returned for
re-torque after 100km.

Although I agree with you because we have cars towed in almost daily with a wheel missing or broken wheel bolts/studs do to over/under torquing of wheels.

Its just to easy to torque every wheel and not have to worry about people losing wheels and killing other people on the road. It honestly takes an extra 30 seconds.

I have the Maximum version of this and it does the job well. Its on sale now for $65 and has a lifetime warranty - just bring it in to any crappy tire and they replace it.
