Congrats, looks like you are the first D into the 12's! And To put it more accurately, there is no other car that's as fast and efficient as the 335d. Other similarly quick cars would be lucky to crack 30 mpg, let alone 40.

I wonder why all the review mags haven't figured out the 2nd gear launch yet? Seems like that shaves almost a full second off the 0-60 even on a stock 335d!

VERY NICE! Where did you have the JBD set for this run? Can give a quick update on your impressions of the JBD since you've had it in your car a little longer?

BTW, I saw that little run with the F430,,, looks like you surprised him too!

It truly is an amazing car. By all means and any standard. Are you planning on getting an LSD? that would help w/ launching the car.

It is a very rare breed. I drove out to Pittsburgh this past weekend and on my drive home I did 95 MPH pretty much the whole way just using cruise, no slow uphill fast downhill or anything. Just 95 on the hills. My average speed was 83mph and my mileage was 32 mpg. I couldn't ask for better, unless i slowed down of course. This also included a few runs to the 100's and a run to 145 mph as well. I love the car and how it just hums along w/o any care in the world.

I used to be embarrassed by the way the diesel sounded. But after living with the car for a couple thousand miles, I am actually proud of how it sounds! Its very different. Unlike a gas engine, the diesel doesn't even like to be revved in neutral at an intersection to attact attention. The car really does grow on you. I drove a 6M 2008 M3 the other night. After jumping back in the diesel, it definitely still feels amazing.

And now the 335d !

The 335d is the most loaded one of all, and it is a delight to drive. The streaming bluetooth audio that became available last month is awesome. Music from your phone, games, TV, etc...wirelessly in Hi-Fi. The paddle shifters are totally different than my 08. (left for downshift/right for upshifts). Still trying to get used to that. These LED turn signals are bright! They light up the freeway onramp signs! And the M-sport suspension handles really nice and tight.
Am I reading this correctly? You can feed video from your mobile device (iPod/iPhone) into the iDrive screen? I thought that wasn't going to be available until Connected started becoming available in March??

For sure Hotrod...I'm loving the d. I'm a little bummed about having my first AT in over 6 years but the trade off is pretty cool!

Just got finished painting my front K1s, and installed on the car.
Running the rear K1s also. Will try and see if I can measure any difference in the qtr mile.

I was quite surprised there is not much difference in weight between the rear M-Sport 18's and my 17" Kosei/NT05R setup. Only 7.8lbs lighter per wheel. I'm sure a big part of that is the run flat tires themselves.

I triple weighed each setup to insure accuracy in the results.

This diesel can use all the dieting help it can get. I could proceed to strip the entire interior and this thing would still weigh more than a stock 335i. Kind of funny how my goal on my 335i was to make it closer in weight to a stock 135i. And my goal in the diesel is to make it closer in weight to a stock 335i !

To Summarize:

51.0 lbs Stock Front Wheel
39.2 lbs 17” K1 with General Exclaim

11.8lbs x 2=23.6 lb front wheel difference

53.6 lbs Stock Rear Wheel
45.8 lbs 17” K1 with Nitto NT05R 275/40/17.

7.8 lbs x 2=15.6 lb rear wheels difference

39.2lbs Total difference between stock 18” RFT/Wheels and 17” K1 setup.

Also, as far as running a 16" drag setup...the calipers are pretty darn close to the wheel as it is with these 17" K1s. Well hope this info is helpful for those of you who were interested in the weight differences of the K1 setup vs Stock.

Are you over inflating your results? Cause it seems that every car that you have is a super car. Many people have not been able to repeat your results.

I appreciate the time you take to record results and all, but you must be shooting steroids in the cars your drive.

looking for some general guidance:

Should I immediately get rid of the RFTs that come with the '11 335d ZSP? thinking about putting potenza RE760 or hankook v12 on day 1? so many general bad comments i read about RFT

Yeah the sound is not a bad one at all. especially when you're cruising along and it just hums down the road effortlessly. It does suck that you can't rev it up and be obnoxious but that's ok. I don't mind it at all.

Those rims are hideous, no offense but I understand their purpose. I had weighed my rims and got close to your weight. (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=style+195)

the 195's are very heavy! but they look damn good! Rims definitely shed a lot of weight off the car. Unsprung weight plays a big roll in driving dynamics.

You are the only person to have called BS on Hotrod yet. at least w/ the D that is. his stock times that he achieves are very reasonable. As per the tune, i can't testify for that but i do believe it.

I think the stock runflats perform nicely. Easy to launch, decent grip, quiet, and smooth. I have canyon raced with them with impressive results. I think compared to any street tire with a decently high tread wear rating, they hold their own. Own the down side, they are heavy and expensive.

The stock RFTs have absolute shit treadwear, stiff ass sidewalls which are bone-jarring on bad pavement and as you said, are heavy and expensive.

In regards to road noise, they aren't that bad compared to my previous set of extreme performance summers (Dunlop Direzza Z1) and aren't the absolute worst in terms of dry traction. But, there are FAR better tires out there. Heck, I think my all-season Continental DWS rival the stock RFTs for dry traction and have better treadlife to boot.

I am running General Exclaims in the front. Nice and light, but much louder than the RFTs.

I have been driving for a few days with my NT05Rs on the rear. Nice launches at the intersection. But I'm afraid to look at how fast they are wearing. I don't even know if they have a treadwear rating. They are supposed to be way below 100 !

They are helping maybe a .10 in my 60' times at best. I still get the same 2.0 sec 60' times as the RFTs and occasional dip to 1.90sec. Qtr mile went from 13.1 to 13.0, and 12.9 here and there. But they are easier to control from going into wheel spin, and recover easier from slight wheel spin. This however is with no warm up burnout on either tire. I am assuming on a prepped track surface with warm up burnout, the DRs will work better?

Of course 1.9 is about the best I get on the street, even with the Hoosiers, or MT Streets.

Since the probability that your last 3 consecutive BMW's being factory freaks are quite low (albeit still probable), I'd have to conclude that you are doing something right during the break-in period of the vehicles.

Please do tell. What's the secret formula?

Not sure if one is US and the other is the rest of the world?
Woah, isn't the JBD only $250? What makes ESS Tuning think their flash is worth four times as much?
