Where to mount mute button for Escort

Hi everyone. I got a 9500xi I'm going to hardwire, but I can't decide where to put the mute button. Originally I wanted to try to make it work with one of the unused buttons next to the seat heater and sunshade controls, but I can't even get the damn panel off, and it was a long shot if I could get one of those to work anyway. I'd prefer not to drive around with the ashtray open all the time, too. Any other ideas? Somewhere easy to reach (that's the whole point), but preferably not too noticeable.

Has anyone found a good mounting location for this? I was almost thinking of mounting it to the bottom right of the speedometer.

Please post pics!

TIA

I have the 9500ix and honestly it filters falses so well that a mute button really isn't necessary. I had a V1 before and mounted the mute button behind my high beam stalk lever. With last week's firmware update, the 9500ix with TSR enabled is even more rigorous against falses.

Not the greatest photo known to man but its mounted dead center on the steering wheel column.
when it lights up its directly in my line of sight on the windshield so its like a heads up display almost.

not as convenient to push to lockout/mute but like scooby said, not much need for it once you lock out your falses around town.

Cool, that looks good. Yeah I mainly wanted it for a visual aid too, moreso than the mute button. Thanks for posting.

yeah its nice with the hardwire cuz I run the actual screen on the unit in dark mode and just have the mute button light up when something goes off... its just a bit less conspicuous.
