BlackBerry Stereo Gateway + iPhone 3GS + iDrive/Bluetooth problems
So, I just bought the BlackBerry Stereo Gateway based on recommendations on this forum. Connected to AUX in my car, and it works flawlessly, really cool how I can wirelessly stream music into my AUX port using Bluetooth.
However, now the problem is that I can't pair iPhone to the car's Bluetooth anymore! The phone pairs with the Gateway, but it just showed "Not Connected" for the car. I even told the phone to "forget" the car, unplugged the Gateway, and tried to get the phone to discover the car (thought maybe the Gateway was causing interference with the car's Bluetooth). Now the phone won't even discover the car! And now iDrive won't allow me to disable the car's Bluetooth. Any idea what this can be, I HAVE to get my car's Bluetooth working again, that certainly is more important than wirelessly streaming music!! Somehow at least a couple of other people on this forum were able to get the phone to pair and work with both the Gateway and the car!

Try pairing your phone to your car and then go inside and pair your phone to the gateway. Then go into the car and plug in the gateway. I just ordered this and the member who I got this idea from said that both the car and gateway could be paired simultaneously.

That sounds like a pretty good idea! Well, I ended up finding out that my iPhone just needed a reboot, that seemed to solve the problem pretty well. If it doesn't work, Now my phone works perfectly with both the car and gateway. Sounds great too, if the sound quality isn't as good as hardwired, it's VERY hard to tell! I haven't gotten so excited about a purchase in a while, it's amazing to be able to wirelessly stream downloaded and internet radio music in my car! And it's great to be able to choose music using the iPhone's touchscreen, way better than using iDrive in my opinion. And for only $40! Do I work for BlackBerry or something?
Anyway, thanks for the help!

I had the same problem when I first installed mine but resolved it by restarting the phone. Since then it's worked perfectly and is my fav mod so far to the car.
I walk into the car, press play on the iPhone and it plays music without me having to plug my iPhone into anything. If you didn't know better you'd think BMW had something built in that sync'd with my iPhone. |

Yupp. It's been installed for a few days but I just blew my underseat subs. Back to stock + a trunk sub . Anyway it works perfect. The only gripe I have is that sometimes you need to restart the phone because it skips but this doesn't happen often. Also when I turn my car on the BB gateway "pops" and I think that's what blew my sub. I just turn the volume low when I turn off my car....I usually do this anyway but sometimes I forget and that's how I noticed it.

Yupp. Music fades out when a call is being taken...then turns back on after you end the call. The volume on the iPhone is locked just as if it were connected to a FM transmitter or the like. You control everything through the HU besides selecting songs.
