I found an OEM Ipod adapter cable on ebay for 16.99

Seems legit. In any case, even if it was fake, it would probably still work better than the shitty run of OEM cables they had for a while.... I wonder if this could be one of those....

Not unless you have a USB input in your center console. This is just the cable.

I have the USB in my center console. I heard the cable from the dealer is like $100 or $200 bucks...thats why i was like HUH? when i saw this lol

i hope its not one of thie shitty cables...then again for 16.99 i guess it not much to risk. My only concern was, i dont want to buy it and then it screw up my ipod or my car! lol

The cable is nothing its like a $10 cable which lets you play the your ipod through your speakers. When you pay the $400 for ipod your paying for the integration so you can actually control your ipod though the navigations screen. With just the cable you will have to control it from the ipod itself I think.

100% correct. All this will enable you to do is charge your IPOD and listen to your songs while you drive. You will still need to use the IPOD to change songs.

i don't believe this is correct. If you have 6fl, which is the ipod integration/USB option from factory, you have a USB port and an AUX port in the center console. When using this cable to plug your ipod in to both ports, you get the ability to listen to your ipod AND control your ipod via the iDrive, and i'm assuming w/ your radio if you don't have iDrive. Yes it will also charge it. You DO need the 6FL option (ipod integration in the center console) though for this cable to be of any use. However, if you do have 6FL, you should have received this cable from the dealer.

if you have an older model w/ the dealer option ipod integration, then this is also un-neccessary. If you have an older model w/ out the dealer option ipod integration, then you either need to get that, or plug your ipod via the AUX port in the center console. This will ONLY allow you to listen to your ipod through the radio. It will NOT allow you to control the ipod via the radio, or charge the ipod.

Yes, as long as you have the 6FL option, this cable will allow you to control your iPod from your steering wheel and browse your music on the iDrive screen etc. If you don't have 6FL, there's no point in getting this cable since you'll only be using the 1/4" phone jack and the USB part is useless so you might as well just get a regular 1/4" extension cable from radio shack. If you're sure you have 6FL, get it.

I don't understand posts like this. OP, don't you think that asking the seller through eBay would yield a quick, accurate answer. The can't lie to you and sell you a falsely advertised product. I understand if you want to get the forums opinion but I just think that asking the seller would get you a faster, definite answer.

I brought one of these from the same seller.

Works perfectly well for ipods, I have an ipod 5G Video.

Not so sure about their claim that it works with all iphones though. When I plug my 3GS in, it gives a message saying that its not compatible but you are still able to control the iphone from the i-drive for a while but after an undefined about of time the i-drive is no longer able to control the track selections on the iphone. The iphone continues to play, but you just can't control it anymore.

The reason why I kept the cable was that it was only $16 and It works fine with the ipod, which is what I purchased it for.

BTW Don't buy it if you don't have 6FL, it won't work at all.
