Blast from the past, that would have been jan 2009 lexus cruise from thornleigh maccas to terrigal!

That thing handled great, it had telepathic steering response and a really good chassis (having said that it had a lot of sussy mods)

Hmm all the guys i know who had a 1jz conversion sold them as they were always fkn up. I'm not a fan of engine conversions personally.

My car had a 2jzge, and i was going to pour 15k or so into it and get a decent size single on it, but the tranny wouldnt handle the power etc etc decided to focus on getting a factory turbo car and got the 335i

Yeah I've always had friends rave on about how well they handle in stock form, let alone with a few sussy mods. But if the 1j is a cause for constant bonnet-up work (cough n54 much), then maybe it's not for me. n52 FTW

Nice pics from Germany btw!

It's not really the jz's that are unreliable, its just engine transplant always cause headache's!

Well the boost leak is finally sorted!

I spent ages replacing all the vac lines, boost solenoids, checking the fmic connections, CP connections and replaced the CP o ring & boost solenoids. Each time I replaced something I spent 30 mins or so logging the car and eventually giving up!

I should have taken it straight to Pete & Stu @ Advan, they had it sorted and diagnosed in no time it was the BOV.

I had bought an active autowerke BOV a few years ago, and the internals has a spring and a rubber diaphragm. The rubber diaphragm had burst like a balloon and thus wasnt holding boost.

AA sell a replacement diagphragm kit for $35usd i was more inclined to get it fixed asap instead of waiting for the kit to arrive, so the boys at advan welded in a flange to suit the turbosmart veeport BOV.

v's the look at me officer give me a canary trumpet style AA BOV:

With the car running an E30 OTS cobb map it punched out almost 310kw on the dyno! I must admit I was blown away at that figuire for an OTS map!! I can't wait to see what the PTF map running more advance timing and a higher dose of E85 will do

Baseline run with Cobb OTS E30 map:

I've done a few logs and ive never had wheelspin at 100km/h + in her before today, she really hauls ass!!

Can't wait to see what dzenno @ PTF can do!!

Obviously all the maintanence I've performed on the car has helped with this rather healthy figure!

Summary of mods so far:

AMS FMIC with custom 3" advan hard pipes welded to the end tanks for high flow
AFE DCI
AR DP's
BMW PE
Active Autowerke CP & Turbosmart vee port BOV
Fuel It Stg2 drop in bucket
Cobb E30 map

Maintenance items:

Advan walnut blast intake valves
new HPFP
LPFP sensor
new waterpump & T/Stat
fresh boost solenoids
fresh vac lines
vanos solenoids
RB PCV
PCV Hose
bmw spark plugs
bosch coils
pre cat 02 sensors
replace rocker cover & gasket
Mobil 1 0W40

Great results DR-JEKL. It should be a mid to high 11s runner on the drag strip with 310rwkw.

Yeah I'm floored that the power figure is so high!

I'm 6MT, and suck at launching the car! I would be happy with a low 12, but TBH I prefer going for a drive out in the 'country' with a few twisties more so than waiting for hours to have a run down the strip

Nice result Shane. Glad to see you have sorted your engine issues.

I have fond memories of driving in/out of the Link Road with the M3 diff/subframe and R888s whilst data-logging the Cobb E30 map.

You must be pretty happy with how its running now?

Hey Steve long time no hear mate!

Hope the family is all well, hows the alfa and 540i going? I see you had Pete finally install the S/C!!

Yeah I bought the cobb way back in 2013 and was going to get you to give me a hand to install it! I waited until the fuelit lpfp was sorted and finally had it all installed late and the cobb flashed earlier this year before I went to Europe.

Mate it smooth on idle (prior to the vanos solenoids, O2 sensors, plugs and walnut blast it had a horrible lumpy idle) and really gets up and going now. 1st gear and 2nd gear are over in no time it's surprising how much more agressive the car feels now.

It does feel a tad 'laggy' below 4k rpm, looking at the logs it's not hitting load targets until later in the rev range (unsure if this is normal) but hopefully the PTF E-Tune service will suss this out. Having said that it helps minimise wheel spin I guess

Glad you got the leak sorted Shane. And those new peak numbers on the dyno are impressive!

Cheers thanks Jon!

It looks like the AFR's are a tad low (I'm a tuning amateur!) albeit the boost curve looks great and one cant complain with that power delivery and peak power. I would have thought the turbos would struggle to flow too much more, but I will make sure I wack it back on the dyno after the PTF E-Tune has been performed.

Also the fuel had been sitting in the car since 7th Feb (3.5 months!) and it ran fine. I was initially concerned with moisture buildup, but most feedback I've received from other E85 users is its fine to use in cars like mine which aren't driven regularly.

Well I just took the car for a quick blap and logged the V3 PTF E50 map tonight.

The car felt solid with the OTS E30 map, but it feel a hell of a lot stronger now!

From a 2nd gear roll on, it started to fishtail a tad under full throttle and when i shift into 3rd it chirps the tyres at 100ish km/h

The rear feels like its squatting a lot under WOT, she's definately a much quicker car. Dzenno has been quite surprised with the logs, as everything is looking fine and she's handling the extra boost just fine and the cold winter days has been great for high boost logs

I've asked PTF to knock up a E60 map and see if there's much more in her

Must say I'm really happy with how the car is performing and im on my 2nd tank of E85 and with 8 logs on the 2nd tank im sitting on 10.0L. To have this much power in a smooth comfortable car, and have 320+ rwkw and a great fuel consumption is a really good package!

She's knocking out that much torque that I must admit perhaps this much power with the stock suspension is a tad too much.. I definitely don't need RB's and more power just yet, I need the m3 driveline in for sure!

I'm envious that guys today can buy a 335i in the low 30's buy some VRSF DP's FMIC CP intake kit, fuel it stage 2 and a cheap tune (JB4 MHD) & have a 300 ish rwkw car for $35k...

Is this an N54 success story? Why hasn't your fuel pump died yet? What about your injectors?

Nice Dyno chart, hope the car keeps treating you well!

Woosh was on the $, just adding the finishing touches to the bathroom and next will be a nursery for my daughter! Can you believe a cot that the missus wants is $1700!! then theres the change table, set of drawers, bassinet etc etc

Her she is @ 12 weeks!

After she arrives i would like to do the laundry/2nd bathroom and then start on the gardens but realistically that may have to wait...

As for my toys all my mates reckon that's the end of the weekend toys (the aprilia and the bmw) but I'm confident they'll stay

I need to organise to get a few weekend away with the boys in the bmw and do some trips before nov when the baby is due to arrive

Shhh dont curse me! so far so good!

I replaced my lpfp hpfp lpfps late last year.

With the injectors Pete @ advan told me if they're working dont change them as preventative maintenance as they generally give you a bit of warning before they fail, they're easy to replace and yet they're expensive to replace. $1500-1800 by memory?

If I had the $ spare I would for a piece of mind, but honestly this thing has been really reliable for me. Having said that I've only done 12k kays in 4 years...
