Actually, Spec has a DMFW (OEM replacement) in Steel and Aluminum and they offer the SMFW in Steel or Aluminum.

I would not recommend the aluminum in regards to the SMFW.

-Edit I should clarify they are not technically Dual Mass Flywheels, they are DMFW replacement flywheels. They work with the stock clutch or any stock designed aftermarket self-ratcheting pressure plate.

Just finished installing the 335is clutch with new stock DMFW in my 07 335i. It drives like a new car! I can finally turn on the JB4 and not have any slippage.
Pedal engagement is nice and low and feels solid.
I did it in my garage on jack stands....wasn't too bad except for the 4 broken exhaust studs (popped right out after heating with a acetylene torch and air hammer) and I managed to install the center bearing 180 out which produced a lovely rumble/shake below 4K rpm. I flipped the bearing and it was fixed.

Car is a blast to drive once again.

Hi people! Maybe someone tried 335is clutch on f30 335i xdrive 6MT? My torque is over 500, stock clutch doesn't work well.

closing in on 25-30k miles on the clutch, no slipping but I did have what would appear to be a throwout bearing tick noise that went away mysteriously. Will be dropping tranny come october and looking.

IMO 650 whp is out of the range for this clutch unless that's just at peak whp at 7200 RPM with flat torque the whole way up and you're easy on the car. I drove it a long time on just under 600 wtq and it was good for pulls, aggressive driving, no good for launches and I didn't take it to the track. I got about 20k out of it. I'd go spec stage 3+, or the twin disk at your hp level. It's a fantastic value for the money but has limitations.

I installed it about 3k miles ago. On a stage 2 equivalent ofs tune. Buoght bmw branded 335is clutch for around 350. Went with Luke flywheel. Works great, feels nice and tight again, no issues.
Are you north of 70k miles? If so replace all the peripheral stuff while you're in there. Great time for an upgraded shifter too - I had dinan short throw installed at the same time, along w Cdv delete. Get some rogue engineering trans mounts while you're at it, and brass pivot pin, replace your GUibo and driveshaft center carrier and carrier bushings (whatever they're called). Also exhaust has to come off so you can throw downpipes in while you're at.

Damn that sounds expensive ha. But, if Im in there then I might as well. The one thing is what Im going to do about the down pipes and my e-test in June.

Seems to be a good price on the Luk FW.

Yeah it may seem like a lot of stuff but again if you're up there in miles you'll be glad you took care of it all.

That's a great deal on the flywheel. Check that your getting the right bolt pattern (6 or 8).

Also recommend getting all new bolts for the trans and guibo. You can just return anything that's not used and it will save you from delays due to anything breaking.

I had a 550i Luk clutch in my 2006 335i since 2 years ago, thanks to this thread!

This is how it currently looks like - after 42k miles of driving with 670Nm at 500hp crank. Many burnouts (tires lasting 8k miles) but also long motorway journeys.

It still works great, but pressure plate is now maxed out and clutch starts to slip on high power / rev gear changes from 1st to 2nd. It would probably do another 10k but I'm getting a new one as I'm planning to up the power to 600+hp.

Great option for anyone trying to use this car as a daily driver!

PS. my car has done 172.5k miles with stock DMFW and it still is in great shape!

Nice to see the clutch hold up. Did you at least resurface the flywheel when you put in this clutch.

I was offered this option, and almost went with it; but it wasn't much more to just go stage 3+ for the extra piece of mind...

Stage 2/3 clutches usually change the clutch feel dramatically (stiffer press, less linear engagement, harsher feel). Also sometimes removes the dual-mass flywheel that is in the stock clutch of the 335i and 550i/335is.

I installed the 335is/550i in my n54 stage 2 aggressive Cobb and it was excellent and same feel as the original one. It came on the F10 550i, so at bare minimum is supports 408hp/443lbft, I estimate BMw build it to support at least 15%-20% more than those numbers.

So? I don't care about that at all..

If you're ok with those power levels... I'm not. I spent a little more and don't have to ever worry... I'm about 575 pounds of torque now but this clutch I think is rated to 800.

If I'm going to replace something like a clutch and flywheel, I only want to do it once... not again after another 100 lb/ft from adding meth or something.

Yes, all was gently cleaned before mating.

My car is well looked after but drives with thsese power levels since 135k miles on the clock and with some sort of tune since 100k.

Did few more map variations since then, but the big one will happen after my current mods are finished.
