Hi All,

I need to replace my front brake pads. Looking to replace them with original bmw pads. Saw on Autohausaz that there are many replacement pads to select from like Pagid, Mintex, Textar. Anyone know how these compare to original pads that came with the car and which one is the closest? This in on a e92 328i 2008.

dont buy OEM pads ..give off so much brake dust

partsgeek.com is what i use for most of my parts. I use the Centric ceramics and they work great with low dust.

thanks! any one else? I'm looking for a set that performs like oem and doesnt wear the rotor? are the brands i listed any good?

Any ceramic pad is going to be virtually dustless. I have akebono's and I can go weeks without washing my car and my wheels show very little signs of dust. The downside to ceramic pads is that the pedal feel is different than stock. Ceramic pads have a much more linear feel and don't have the bite the stock pads have. Takes a bit to get used to but ceramics have plenty of stopping power. For daily use ceramics are great. However, If you track your car I heard ceramics are not a good option.

The oem pads are made by textar. Dust should be your last concern when buying brakes. The best balance of low brake dust and stopping power is performance friction z rated pads. They are also good for light track duty

on the link I posted above, the Pagid's have 34116780711 listed while the Textar's have 34116771868 listed. does this mean that the Pagid's are the only one's that fit? looking for a replacement pad really.

Im sure both companies offer replacement pads you can check out turnermotorsports they have a bunch of replacement pads for our cars. bimmerworld has the pf pads

I haven't heard of the pfz pads. Do you have those on your car? If so, how's the bite, cold stopping and noise?

I would stick to OEM pads for street use. The ones that came on my 2011 MY car did not produce noticeable brake dust no matter how long I went between washes. In addition to that I liked how they were quiet and produced reliable (if not terribly precise) stopping power.

the performance friction z rated pads has the same if not slightly better initial bite and they're low dust the stopping power is great better than hawk and they are a step up from the stock pads with great street manners.

so the story is my front pads didnt pass for inspection at my local shop. took it to my indy shop and they told me that I SHOULD change the rotors as well. Quoted me $395 for parts and labor. Front pads, rotors and sensor all stock parts. decent deal?

not bad considering BMW wanted to charge me over $800 to do just the front ! Did it all myself with aftermarket performance rotors/pads just used the OEM sensor all for about $300

I'm located in the Philly area and am going to need brakes in the near future. Just curious where the Indy shop is located that quoted you ~$400 to replace the brakes and Rotors. Sounds like a decent deal to me.

Another set of pads to consider are the Cool Carbons. More Linear braking than OEM and a lot less dust compared to OEM.

You're probably not going to find this.

I just purchased a slotted/cross drilled rotor set and Axxis metal master pads from turner motor sports. Very happy with them. Cheaper than OEM and they have great bite to them. Installed them myself. Advice though...don't buy their sensor...it didn't fit snug and I had to modify it to get it to work.

For the person who got quoted less than $400 for OEM front brakes installed. I would make sure they are really OEM (if that's what you want). Parts alone should run close to $400.
