I recently encountered the P29f3 code: Low Pressure Fuel Sensor fault shortly after i started using E85, and talking to a few other n54 members, seems they are having similar issues.

this makes me wonder, did E85 just age the sensor more causing the P29f3 code: Low Pressure Fuel Sensor fault, or its a common issue without E85?

I have had that code for the longest time (almost a full year) but the car runs fine. I don't suffer from misfires or hiccups and it runs extremely strong at the dragstrip.

your real indication is logs of fuel pressure. mine are pegged.

That code appeared about a week ago for the first time. 56k miles and I wasn't running E85 at the time though I had been prior to the code popping up.

I am in the process of getting protuned and they know about the codes. I will let you know what they say.

Did the code go away? Like I said, I have the same code and it runs fine (logs look good too), but I have truthfully never pushed my car for more than 20 minutes on a roadcourse.

Considering getting a new sensor, how much was it to replace it?

I had LPFP issues with ethanol content above 60%, but I now have the FFTEC inline booster pump and I'm able to run 80%. I'm over 500 wtq so in my opinion, it's working very well.

how hard is it to replace the low fuel pressure sensor .. i bought one, (mechanically inclined just dont know where it si located .. Neilvosko, can you so a quick write up.. going to replace it tomorrow.

also after talking to a bmw tech .. when the sensor fails and you get the engine light, the car will still run fine, because the dme sets a fixed parameter in the car and it will stay at that parameter until the sensor is replaced. hence why people say the car still runs fine.. it will but you wont get the full potential out of the car.

Ya car runs "ok" for me with this code currently. I just received it in the mail and hopefully will have it installed soon. The big problem I'm noticing is a fuel pressure issue at about 4k RPM in 4th gear, the car will "lurch" and then misfire.

From what I've read you have to remove the Intake manifold in order to properly reach the sensor, which is a bit of a pain in the ass due to a wiring harness that is connected to the underside of the intake. I'm going to hopefully get it done this weekend.

Just replaced this part in my car today. I removed the charge pipe and then separated the intake from the block, I did not completely remove the intake manifold due to issues with removing the wiring harness attached to the underside of it. Got a large ratchet and a 24MM Deep sockt and was able to remove the part. Took me a about 60-90 minutes from start to finish(I was also bullshitting with other mechanics for a lot of this).

Get all the basic stuff out of the way, remove the charge pipe and engine cover, disconnect associated cables(two under engine cover), one on the throttle body, and another next to the intake manifold(yellow). Remove your DCI or air box(blue). Charge pipe requires a torque screw and a flat head, pretty easy(orange).

Remove the 1 bolt and 6 nuts from the intake and separate it from the block, this requires patience and a bit of jiggling.

Replace the Low Pressure Fuel Sensor.

gotta be honest, it think its easier to loosen the charge pipe at intercooler, loosen the throttle body.......so you dont have to replace intake o-rings.

loosen the trottle body bolts 10 mm wrench, loosen the charge pipe, remove the harness box, remove sensor, replace sensor, .....reverse everything. reset ECU.....smile and hit the gas.

Reviving an older thread, but did any of you see issues after replacing the lpfp sensor?.. i am getting the code wiht e85, but am curious as to whether the e85 does help the sensor age faster? Not sure why else the code would pop only with e85. I am hesistant to replace the sensor if you all did and din't see a diff

check the electrical connections to the sensor, make sure they are tight .
