E90 Intake

Whats the best intake for the 328xi Sedan? There are multiple to choose from, what do people have and how do they like the sound?

I don't mean to be rude, but did you try a search? There have been TONS of threads on this with sound clips reviews and more.

Well, that depends on what your looking for. If you're more interested in engine sound then a CAI such as an AFE stage 2 or Injen should fulfill that, the problem with CAI's though is that there is "heat soak" thus decreasing performance. There's also the BMW Performance Intake, that costs $$$ but some folks swear by it but I personally wouldn't fork over that kinda money for minimal gains. I decided bang for buck as the most important factor, so all I did was purchased an AFE dry drop-in filter to replace the stock filter and did a carbon filter delete.. there's work involved but this is the cheapest method and logically the setup makes sense. I also paired this up with cyba scoops.

get the afe intake. it gains power, not much, but a little. pair it with a set of scoops and youll be good to go. There is a minor fitment issue in xi models but its easy to figure out and install. They also sell an xi version I am pretty sure... might have to contact afe about that.

dont waste your money on the bmw PI. and Injen is kind of a piece. in my opinion. it does not come with a heat shield, so you could loose power due to heat soak, but the afe does not have that problem. its the best one out their by far. plus it comes with a heat shield. the sound is the best part.

Don't you lose low end torque from AFE? People have been claiming. And I saw many problems with this intake. I mean I searched for it because I was interested and many had problems. Correct me if I am wrong

The fitment issues aren't just on the XIs. I had to get rid of my AFE because it didn't fit in my car. Others have had the same problem. I ended up getting a K&N filter.

For a 328, get the AFE oiled drop-in, cut out the carbon filter, cyba 40 buck scoops and your done for a bit over a ton. Unless you've got a tuned 335, these other filter aren't going to help you any more.

We are aware that the aFe intake does currently have a fitment issue for cars equipped with the x-drive system. However, aFe has NEVER advertised to be compatible with the x-drive equipped vehicles. You guys do have the choice of either getting an aFe drop in filter or go with an intake system that fits. A lot of my other x-drive customers have purchased the InJen Intake System. Feel free to contact me if you guys have any questions at all!

no, I have never had an issue with losing low end tq. I have never dyno'd though, but I could feel a small difference in the car. Especially with an exhaust system, and pbx, I can definitely feel the difference. Once I get the Gintani tune, I am sure it will improve.

Never heard of any fitment issues on non X-drive cars. fits perfectly in mine and all other ones I have installed. but, every car is different, so who knows.

And if you get an AFE, you dont need to buy another filter haha. it comes with an AFE one. Definitely the best intake hands down, especially for the price. Unless you go with carbon filter delete and drop in... thats cheapest, but no sound benefit.

This.

The aFe is one of the best aftermarket choices for an intake, it comes with a heat shield and a giant filter for the cleanest and coolest air possible with a great sound to boot!

If sound isn't what your going for, then scoops and a drop in are a great option to keep the "sleeper" style.

Let me know if you need any help on a set up

I don't think those aftermarket intakes have "colder air" than the stock intake, it can only be "warmer"
