AFE Intake
Guys I just want everyone to know I've seen this happen time and time again. Two of my buddies have told me their AFE intake isn't what they expected, well after looking at the install they had done at two different shops(I won't mention any names) I noticed the cup that the filter connects to was mounted upside down therefore restricting airflow by about 30-40%. If anyone is having a problem with this intake or feels it doesn't deliver check that the cup is mounted the correct way. Just thought I would put this out there since so many people seem to think this intake isn't worth the money. I have the same intake with the pro dry filter and I love it.

When you put the screws through the heat shield they line up with the cup and you screw them in. On the other hand you can tell if the cup is installed upside down by placing your hand in the tube. If you do not have a perfect cylindrical feel to the intake tube you will know its upside down. It should feel smooth and round all the way around the the intake tube. Also if its upside down you will notice it doesn't line up with the intake tube. I will try and post some pics to help everyone out.

glad I could help. I wonder how many people have it wrong and thats why its not delivering the power they expected. I hope more people see this and correct the problem or AFE is going to get a bad rap.

Do you have the oil or dry filter?
Reason asking is because I just got mine and its the oiled version and I noticed that there is excessive oil on the filter. It is leaking oil all over the place. I have a post inquiring if that is normal. Let me know. |
