Converting to Euro Airbox: Gains? Possible?
So I have looking at one of the DIY's for air filter replacement, and noticed that the Euro Airbox looks very similar to the BMW Performance one.
Based on photos it appears to have some benefits over the N/A version: Larger Internal Volume Cone filter Has anyone done this swap? Update: Here's pricing from ECS; which is about the same from Germany Directly with no discount http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=43 Last edited by e90ben; 07-08-2010 at 11:01 AM.. |

Did a little more digging:
It might be possible, but we would possibly need to relocate the Power steering pump reservoir. Plus this looks like an Airbox for a 2.5l engine, might have to look at Intake hose placement and Diameter size. Parts List: Upper Airbox cover Lower Airbox Euro K&N filter Power Steering Relocation?? This post is about updating the EURO Airbox to BMW Performance. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ght=air+filter Last edited by e90ben; 07-08-2010 at 11:00 AM.. |

Good to hear! Now we just to need to get the part numbers Martin Would it be a big ask to have you take some pics of your engine bay? and Take some measurements of your airbox? This is assuming your airbox matches the pics above |

Anyone know if the Euro airbox is any louder than US spec?...I love my aFe oiled drop in and charcoal/air silencer removal but I would like it to be slightly louder. Not aftermarket intake loud, but a little more audible.

You can see all the required parts here:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...47&hg=13&fg=20 The airbox is identical to the BMW performance box except for the additional air inlet. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...80&hg=13&fg=95 You can use K&N filter part No. E-2022 (same as BMW performance)

I didn’t do the swap. I have European E92. All I did was swap the filter for K&N.
