Clutch slipping?
Hey guys. I actually have a 135i, but same thing as a e92/90. So I have a couple questions. I have a full exhaust, charge pipe, intake, down pipe, and jb4. It seems that every time I WOT or pull hard, my clutch is slipping crazy. My RPM rises up, but my car doesn't move. Has anyone had this problem? If so, what's your solution? I'm about to pull the trigger for Pure Stage 2. Please let me know, thank you.

I just replaced my clutch and had the fly wheel machined. After reading everything, for me I went with the N54 335is clutch. Works beautifully after the break in period....and it was less than half the cost of a Stage II and didn't have to deal with any issues around the flywheel or the gear box rattle/grind.

Solution? Get a stronger clutch! I decided to go with a Spec 2+ Clutch w/ the steel single mass flywheel. Absolutely love it. I always think to shoot higher on the tq rating of the clutch to give you more room to expand mods if you decide to.
Edit: I see you're getting turbos. Definitely go with a stronger clutch. |

Thank you guys for your feedback. I was advised to get a N54 335is clutch or a F10 550i clutch. Looks like I'm better off going with a stage 2? Anyone recommend any stage 2 clutches?

Spend the extra hundred bucks, get the Spec 3+, and never worry about whether or not your next power upgrade will result in clutch slippage. There are package deals out there on Spec clutches and SMFW.

^ Stage 3+ is right. If you're going pure stage 2, you're going to want power. A 2+ will do it, but will accelerate wear on it. But again, depends on what your goals are.

I'm running a 335is/550i clutch (they are the same) for the past 20k miles without any issues. I'm on a stage 2 turbo @ 24psi. The stock clutch couldn't handle the stage 1 turbo upgrade in the higher RPM's (only had 35k miles on the stock clutch.)
