Would you believe after leaving work at 16.50 hours I've just got in!!!!

So what, it started snowing around 13.00 hours, snow wasn't settling on the roads in Hull, then it started coming thicker and thicker. Dual carriageway west bound out of Hull 25 mph, then my usual turning is at a complete standstill. Decided to go through a couple of villages to get home but traffic all backed up because of traffic stuck on some country roads 2 miles away. Then I got STUCK.......wheels spinning......PSM off - no difference. Managed to turn around after holding everyone up and stopping a bloke getting into his drive Then because the roads had NOT been gritted people were struggling to get out onto the A63 from the village I'd just come back from. Again I COULD NOT get the car to move and some twat in a Fiesta behind me was flashing his lights I was so fu*king close to getting out in the snow storm to have a go at him. Pulls into a nearby hotel and got stuck trying to get into the car park as it has a SLIGHT incline. Meanwhile as I was stuck in this hotel car park I could see a bloke in an E91 trying to negotiate the slight 'rise' in the road to get to the 'T' junction - no chance!! He ended up turning around. Two blokes from Birmingham were outside having a cig. and walked upto me and literally pushed me into a parking space (thanks guys). They offered to buy me a drink but t'other half arrived so I had my evening meal in the hotel. Had to be pushed to get out of the hotel car park AGAIN and trundled home with loads of other traffic STILL, along roads that were bumpy as hell and frozen solid because they still haven't gritted as the grid lock of traffic stopped the gritting lorries getting out. I hope I haven't done any serious damage to the clutch as I was having to ride it.

I'm knackered now.

IF they grit the roads you'll be ok. I've no idea what happened earlier it was just total gridlock everywhere. But I've NEVER,NEVER had so much difficulty getting a car to set off. The PSM was ineffective on or off, just kept going sideways or just spinning on the spot.

Sods law, you'll get to Hull tomorrow and the snow will have gone and the traffic will be fine. I hope for your sake it is.

My experience is wet slushy snow as we have had today (1 to 3 deg temp) is far worse than very cold, dry snow at around -3 and beyond. Slippery, yes but far more traction if you are careful.

It's raining here in Sunderland. So fingers crossed it'll be gone in the morning
