Why would you care what others think.
Not really sure how you made that deduction based on our posts.

The S5 stands out because it looks better. There's a reason Audi graces their higher end cars with more bright accents (the latest RS line even more so); it's to make them stand out and look more upscale. Period.

I couldn't care what people think about my car. I care about what I want and like. I think the S5 looks better with its aluminum mirrors, grille slats and diffuser piece. I would never buy an S-line audi in silver, but I'm not you. I would never debadge a car either, no matter how much or how little cache said badging might hold.

I drove an S5 and thought the interior was small and I felt cramped. The lines on the S5 are incredible but I still would rather have my 335 then it.

Well if that comprehensive scientific comparison isn't conclusive proof of the superiority of the BMW I don't know what would be.

The S5 is a sexier looking car with a better interior but at a higher price.

Couldn't have said it better. Audi comes with better looks, better interior with a little more cost.
We drive BMWs cause 3 series are BENCHMARK for performance. To be optimistic, that's all it matters. To be pessimistic, that's about it.

Suck it up. Audi is sexy. BMW is performing. Choose one. It's a subjective matter. No one is "Better" than the other in general.

A shop that works with an Audi/Porsche/BMW dealership on the west coast...told me get the 2.0 if you get an Audi, they can be modded fairly inexpensive to have about 370lbs of torque all under warrantly with the Stasis mod.

Torque is where it is at.

A5 looks are the best IMO.

I have a 335 e90 because of car seats, but otherwise I would look at an A5.

I do not like the looks of the Audi sedans IMO.

I like the A4 and A5's looks over any 3 series... I just wish I didn't have to get quattro to get some of the fancier options.

RWD A5 would be nice even if it is a 2.0.

throw an "s" badge on it... now the driver feels like he's bought something special. It's probably the biggest reason behind ditching the v8 in the a6. When the S6 comes out, I guarantee you people who would buy a 550 will defect to the S6 just to distinguish their 70-75k cars from lower variants.

BMW needs a much stronger form of nomenclature for their cars, but they need to stay within traditional naming methods. Tagging 'is' to the back of their cars really feels like a cop out, we-need-to-boost-this-model-year's-production-numbers kind of move. The s/xDrive badging is too cluttered to have lasting power, too.

I hear you but Quattro really helps get the power down with out BMWs overbearing traction control kicking in all the time!

ok - adding my 2 cents to the mix.

Been contemplating a 335is for a while.
Been out on a few test drives, and I love it.
Handles great, awesome exhaust sound, very comfortable, sort of plain interior but classy

well, stumbled upon an -'09 CPO S5 this week end and took it for about a 15 min test drive with out a salesperson.

- Driving Impressions: It's absolutely a fast car, but I think due to it's weight and isolation from road noise it doesn't feel as fast as the 335is. The exhaust note is nice but not the same as the 335is. The 335is is a more enjoyable car to drive if you are looking for a sports car type ride. The S5 still put a smile on my face and I like driving it, I just felt less involved then when driving the 335is

- Looks: Looks are 100% subjective, but to me Audi nailed this car both inside and out.
Something about sitting in the seats and putting your hands on the wheel put a smile on your face. I remember during the test drive just looking around and saying out loud "this is a nice car" Around my town 3 series are everywhere but you don't see a lot of A5/S5's at all. The avg joe can't tell the difference between a $35k 328 and a $75k M3 as it passes him on the highway. With the Audi, people stop and look.

- What to buy? - If I was going new on both cars, it's a no brainer, 335is all the way. It's a great car, comfortable, and a blast to drive and the big this is it's $10-15,000 less then a comparable S5.
The thing is I found this CPO S5 - with a year+ left on the warranty + another 2 year extended and it's $10,000 less then a new 335is - that turns the tables. I like the idea of a 2-3 year old cpo car and letting someone else take the depreciation hit. I was also a little leery of buying a $55,000 3 series

The S5 is not perfect, no car is. But, it's a really nice car for the CPO price.
I''m gonna take another look.

Try to compare RS5 vs M3, instead of S5 vs M3.

oh, but it seems like they already did a comparo...

Looks lke the M3 was preferred by over 1000 voters... jus' sayin'.

well they told you to get the 2.0 because it is turbo'ed and fairly easy to tune.

you do know that the 335 is not a competitor to an A5? rather the 328's are.

A5 start at 38G, while 335's start at 41-2. 328's are around 34.

For 38 thousand dollars, you get 211 hp with a HUGE disappointment in performance (straight line) 6.4 seconds 0-60(manual) 6.7 for auto. Which is exactly the same for the 328. with less torque but more power and for less money.

a5 is a high priced slow car. for almost 40 thousand dollars i would like it to be at least faster then a accord v6.

S5 aint that great either. 53 grand??? 0-60 is the same as our cars. i know that 335i's can amount to 50k or more but i dont see our cars as a different class then the normal line up. a 335i(non-is) is a compeptitor to an s5. i feel that the 335is CAN compete against the RS5. even being underpowered by 100hp+

And what is e90post? How many in this thread alone prefer the Audi...? A poll is a poll. Many of those voters could have came across that article by a Google search; so who says they are BMW fanboys? This is hearsay at this point, I only stated a fact about the article he posted .

Its all about 0-60 and competing then is it? Have you ever driven an A5 or an S5? . For $1200 an A5 will make 265 hp with 305 ft/lbs of torque. Your 0-60 goes to just over 5 seconds....about the same as 335....for about $7-8,000 less if that what you are concerned about. Plus all wheel drive is pretty nice. I almost got nailed from behind today as I was merging quickly into traffic. It was raining and as I get half way around the corner the FU%$#% traction control shuts everything down as a wheel loses grip. 335is and RS5 are in different leagues. M3 and RS5 perform similarly I believe.

yes to an A5 and no to the s5. took a douchebag in a S5 down screaming at me "YOU DONT WANT IT!" sigh....

for 400 dollars 335 will make 360hp and similar tq. and with a better tq curve, it competes against cars out of its league.

m3 beats the RS5 and has less HP. IMO with some suspension parts, the 335is is a great platform to build on. saving money and having a retrospectively impressive numbers with MINIMAL mods. it can compete against the RS5. (0-60 are identical or very close. 4.6 for rs5 and 4.7 for 335is) stock for stock. 68-70 grand for a rs5. ridiculous.

i dont understand how a car can look so good, but not perform. same for the gran turismo. your paying for looks rather then performance. BUT IT HAS LEDS!!!! omgz

I'm already having traction problems and I'm on 265/30 19 rears so I couldnt imagine more power..traction control.....I agree that Audi has fallen short with the RS5. Very strange. S5 is more of a touring car really yet does everything as well (and quickly) as 335. It is more dough but sounds sooooo much better. My last car was B7 S4 and the sound alone sold me. BMW lopped $7000 off this 335 which made S5 cost difficult to justify. Having said that, I made a mistake. Quattro can be driven hard everywhere all the time if you so desire..rwd...not so much.

& most BMW's don't (3,5,7) ?

The A4-S4-RS4 are basically the same car
as are A5-S5-RS5 so of course they look the same.

That's like complaining the 325 looks like the 335
