Spending her second night at BMW Sydney.
The key fobs couldn't start the car because they had no charge. They could unlock the doors and the boot but can't start it! Got towed away on Monday morning and until 5:30pm today, they haven't looked at it. Hopefully they'll do tomorrow. They said emergencies have to wait for at least 48 hrs before being looked at.

The car hasn't been driven for a few months because the previous owner didn't want to put more km's on it. The key fob batteries get charged when in the ignition for extensive drives.

Can the stealership charge them or they need to be replaced?

Man that sucks! How is that even possible? Someone please explain. Your 'keys' go flat if you don't use them?

That's a common problem I used to experience with one of my keys once in a while, so I used to just manually open the doors and then it recharged in the ignition. Also, maybe you need to change the cars battery if the car didn't start? I had a similar problem last year at a car wash when my car locked itself up with the key in the ignition locking me out. It turned out to be a battery issue, Steve came and jump started it and later put in a new battery and alls good since, I haven't seen the key problem reappear too. Did you try jump starting the car before getting it towed?

You are still under extended warranty correct, that's really crap service!

uh? Emergencies having to wait 48 hours?? That kind of defeats the whole point doesn't it?

Is this part of roadside assistance? If so you get 24hr call.. but wait... it'll e 48hrs beforeanyone turns up.

Either way very poor service by BMW Sydney - and that one is owned by BMW Group! From my experience service there has really dropped over the past few years!

They have found the fault and it requires a new part. Part is on order from Germany and it'll take two weeks to arrive.

Why don't they just have all spare parts available in Australia? I think it's stupid having someone's car parked in their workshop for two weeks waiting for new parts!

And to make things worse, no loaners available!

The previous owner is dealing with BMW because the warranty is in his name. They were trying to tell him it's not covered by warranty. If that's the case, he will cover the cost.

I think they should provide a loan car even if it wasn't covered under warranty. I had some repairs done to my 320i before which wasn't under warranty and they provided me with a loaner.

BMW Syd is a joke lol. I thought the 48 hr thing was that they would try and see it within 48 hrs? Because its not booked in they cant guarantee it a spot right away but it should be looked at within 48 hrs..? That's what I thought/was told anyway..

Apart from that BMW Syd should also have a car for you somewhere. One day they told me they didn't have a car at all anywhere in the dealership for me to take. After a minor discussion a loan vehicle miraculously appeared!

Yes, you just need to send BMW a transfer of ownership form, a sale receipt and a fee of $75. If you sell your car privately, the extended warranty is easily transferrable. If you sell it to a dealer, the extended warranty gets cancelled!
