Adjustable shocks make a lot of sense to me, but it seems most around here are running FSD's. Why?

FYI, I'm looking to mildly lower and firm up my non-sport 330i suspension, but need decent comfort for lots of highway miles.

I'm toying with the idea of H&R Sport springs and Koni adjustables or FSD. Thoughts?

I'm curious about the FSD as well. I've got a 335i Sport and while the stock dampers are decent, I sure wouldn't go out and buy them or even go through the trouble of putting them on.

I ran Koni adjustables on my STi and they were phenominal. Incredible damping and they can handle a huge range of spring rates (literally from stock to custom GC coilover sleeves in your choice of rates). In that situation I actually found them to be more comfortable than the stock struts even though I was running about double the stock spring rates.

Only issue with adjustables is that in order for them to work you have to take the time to properly adjust them. For comfort, this could take a while driving over all the different conditions that you drive in. Just when you think you have them right, you go over a set of railroad tracks or drive in the city and find you need to do some more adjusting. Perfect if you want tinker which for me is all I did in my STi. In my case, I'm looking for set-and-forget parts for my E90 which is why I'm curious about the FSD.

The only problem I had with the FSD's was when I was lowered on eihbach pros springs. I could bottom out the shock on any speed bump. I also think that the springs were underrated for the extra lbs the 335 carries in the front. I've gone back to my zsp springs with the FSD's and it's perfect.

I personally think the FSDs are more than adequate for a sporty upgrade. If you are not going to seriously track the car or are not set on dialing in your own suspension settings, the FSDs will offer a great performance upgrade. The great thing about these shocks is they are very smooth under normal driving conditions and stiffen under cornering to reduce body roll.

I just installed the H&R Touring Cup Kit on my 335i sedan. It lowered the car just a bit and the ride is slightly firmer than my stock sport suspension. I was debating the same think you were not too long ago and I think that i made the right decision. There is a post where the title is H&R Touring cup kit with 3 pages and in the last page I posted pics. This set up is great. nothing but good things about it.

if you go with FSD then try to get a set of used zsp springs...eibach prokit SUCK performance wise.
