jb3 map 5 93 octane longevity?
i was thinking about getting a jb3 and running it on map 5 with no other mods. i always use 93 octane. my main concern is longevity of the engine components. sorry im sure this has been discussed many time but i wanna know what you guys think and any problems anyone has had. thanks

the whole reason other then the power gains over the jb+ but the whole reason i wanted to upgrade was because the jb3 changes the fuel mixtures and other stuff to make it a safer tune. and now i've been reading about how it really effects longevity on map 5.

i know it will have to effect it in some way but i want to know how much. hypothetically lets say the car would last 200,000 miles, how many miles do you think the jb3 on map 5 with 93 octane. obviously its impossible to give an exact number but like 5,000 miles shorter life, 10,000 miles shorter etc?

If an engine will normally last 250k miles @ 300hp without grenading, then it will run 10k less miles for every 20hp you add to it. So, 340hp = 230k miles, 400hp = 200k miles, etc. So pick your horsepower, then you'll PRECISELY know how long your engine will last. But if you're coming up on that 'time of death', be sure to wear goggles because it might go BOOM a couple miles before or after that exact mileage.

Horsepower has absolutely nothing to do with the life of the engine, it all depends how the engine was built to handle the power. Take a stock supra 2jz with 300bhp (factory) and you can make it over 600RWHP and run it to 300k+ miles. For the OP, I highly doubt you will be the owner of the car when the engine goes. JB is awesome for the money, im buying a jb3 pnp as we speak. Good luck, Travis |

Well, the internals of our engine are really strong. So dont worry about that, all you gotta worry about is hpfp(covered) injectors, turbos, and transmission( if you run more power than what its designed for then it will shorten its life)

Alot of it depends on the driver/owner. How often will you be pushing the car to give you that 3xx-4xxwhp? You wont be using all that power to go from stop light to stop light. |
