I get that hot if I run my car super hard. But it goes back to 210 F, in about 3 mins just by normal driving around

You may want to take it in for service if that continues.

I am going to wait and see about this issue. PROcede is due any day and with the temps in Dallas climbing already, only time will tell when it is 100+ outside. Asked dealer about this 2nd cooler for autos produced early(mine). They ran my vin# and said nothing is flagged as to any corrections to be made by them. This worries me a bit with all the talk.

This really irks me. I have an auto the highest I have ever been was 255 in city driving with high, short-burst RPM's in DS mode after an hour of driving like this.
Not happy with this at all. Lets start a sticky on how to go about getting an oil cooler. After 15 min of driving, I am usualy at 210-220 degrees. After half an hour probably 230-245. To the OP, if this was only after 15 minutes of driving I would be concerned. If it was after 50min - 1 hour, I would still keep a careful eye on that gauge. Keep updated on our fight for the oil cooler. |

My car reaches 260-265 very easily in the city when in manual mode with the steptronic. It doesn't really move much from there after, but it does get there within a couple of minutes driving in manual mode. In DS or the normal D mode I have yet to reach 260 though.

The hottest I've seen mine is at 250, this was on a day with 90degree weather and back to back traffic.
The car runs cooler when you're moving at a high speed and the temp goes up faster/more when you are driving in bumper to bumper traffic or you're simply pushing the car very hard. |

Mine runs a line below the pictured one, so what's that 250? Car is brand new and hasn't been driven hard yet. Production date: 1/07 not sure if it has oil cooler or not. Appears to be 3 different coolers up front, car is Auto trans.
Live in phoenix, it's been pretty warm here and only going to get hotter. Has 200 miles on it, I've punched it a few times. Getting ready to get on it pretty hard wondering if she's going to fry or not LMAO! Where is this phantom oil cooler mounted, still wondering if I have it or not??? I want to do quite few cosmetic things to this car, but if it's going to be in the shop soon I might just wait |

What's really interesting is that the higher temperatures at which the car companies are designing the engines to run causes the oil to coke and break down. This is causing dramatic increases in the build up of sludge in the engines and causing premature engine failure. Several manufacturers are having trouble with this. One of the ways to help is to use only synthetic oil. If you do a search there are many people having trouble with this (Toyota, etc.)
