Just bought the Intake Manifold and all the parts needed for the 330i conversion. Before I attempt this, I would love to see a step by step walkthrough on the Intake manifold. Anyone come across one?

1. Remove plastic engine cover
2. Remove the airbox assembly
3. Remove the throttle body, but keep wires/hoses attached
4. Unbold manifold
5. Reverse order.

Am I close, is it really this easy? Are fuel, coolant lines involved or gaskets?

There shouldnt be any coolant lines/fuel lines involved. However, you will need to replace the manifold to header gasket. You should never reuse gaskets. Other than that, you just need to connect the 2 connectors, and there is a thread around here about which one is which. You also need to make sure you install the disa motors before you install the manifold.

Its not that bad, just make sure you've got new gaskets for it. and Make sure you hook up the wires correctly

well, it's not complicated. I printed out all the steps from the TIS earlier this week (hope to install the manifold this weekend). It's basically how he described.

Although you might need to remove the driver side strut brace. I'd also leave the throttle body attached to the manifold, and then swap it out after the manifold is off the car. And the manifold gaskets are just rubber O-rings, not like a traditional gasket, so that's pretty easy too.

Don't forget that vent hose at the bottom, you'll have to remove that and install the new vent hose.

The DISA actuator motor is not in the new parts list, so I am assuming I reuse the 325i DISA actuator motor, I already have?

The 325 does not have the DISA motors. BMW calls it an adjustor unit. Check my sig, there's a link to a thread that has all the parts you need.

yeah, he probably meant the adjuster units. There is a small one and a large one (called front and rear in the bmw catalog), both are the same price though.

The Fuel Rail is right next to the exhaust manifold. The manual says to disconnect but not remove the fuel rail before removing the Intake manifold. Im not sure what they are talking about. It is held on with bolts. Can I skip this step? Also this is not a 2.5 hour project. Im thinking more like 4 hours

One of the nuts you have to remove to get the old manifold off has a bolt that is connected to the fuel rail. All I did was disconnect the fuel supply to the fuel rail and leave the fuel rail in place. It took 2 of us about 3 hrs but we had never done one before. Also mine was a 5 series, so it may be a bit different, but I doubt it. Take your time, it is pretty cramped in there but not too bad.

I have the intake manifold completely detached and I can lift up on it, there still seems to be some hose or wiring harness attached to the bottom of the manifold, holding it down. I can't for the life of me get this harness off, I am afraid to break it and I can't see under there to tell what needs to be released. Any ideas?

I kinda man-handled it out. I could not release the huge cable bundle under the manifold correctly, I just ended up breaking all 4 tabs. But the whole thing came off unscathed. I did break the plastic hose that goes from the underneath of the manifold to some line near the very back top of the engine. It is thin coorigated black plastic about 1 inch in diameter. I am thinking I need a new one, but what does it do, and where do I get one?

I am at 5 hours now. Ready to take throttle body off old manifold.
Calling it a day.

2. Wish I had paid someone $500 to do this. I am a bit in over my head. There are so many undocumented clips and sensor wires and plastic who knows what they are. They are all fragile and I am not being very gentle.

If no liquid came out it could be a hose in your EVAP system.
