DCT or Steptronic 335

Hi - am considering 335 and recently came across a great looking Dec 06 335 with M-package and pricing seems good.

But it is not DCT as I think that was only launched in 2008(?) so wondering if anyone's driven the two and can tell me any noticeable differences, or if DCT is a 'must have'.

Thanks

The auto is a nice slusher

Bet that DCT costs way more than the '06 model up for grabs. If you're talking over $10K price difference, and its just the DCT, I don't think it is worth it over a very good slusher

Step is very nice in the 335, DCT is even better, but if your price range will buy you the Dec 2006 car, then a 2008 DCT is going to be a lot more money. If you where looking at 2, 2008 model cars I would go DCT for the same or a bit more money, but the Steptronic shouldn't put you off, it is very good for an autobox!

Thanks all - it's around US$12k more for the DCT, which I'm ok to spend up on as I would like a car that I'm really going to like for awhile. This is how confused I am, as I'm also thinking of a late 05 E46 M3 priced in between the 335 step and DCT. ...

Then again am tempted to cut to the chase now and step up to the 09 M3 (esp after reading the M3 posts here!) which is my dream car, instead of gradually getting to it with the 335 or E46.

Basically looking for a second car (already have X5) to get to/from work without leaving wife carless.
