I usually switch my cruise control on where the gantrys specify a limit. The M1 does still have non variable speed limit zones though, doesn't it?

General rule of thumb is that there is a 10% margin for discrepancy I think. So if the limits 70mph you can do 77mph-ish.

I once did 73mph yet never again on a motorway in the outside lane, yet never again will stick to 55mph, middle lane. The odd thing, when I drive, there are a lot of people I know as everyone behind me flashes me

70-80 on the M1, on variable speed limit always slow down to the displayed speed. Use to go alot quicker bur after been nearly caught going alot faster now realise it's not worth the hassle....

I also aim to get to the national speed limit on twisty B roads...much more fun, far more dangerous but quite legal.

I got flashed when the variable speed limit cameras where turn off. I can't remember what speed I was doing.

I went to my local police station to ask them should the cameras flash when they are turn off. The officer said high agency control the cameras ask them. I gave them a call and they said the police control the cameras ask them lol.

But I didn't receive anything in the post so I think they only work when the speed is set up on the display screen
