Can you reactivate a california personalized plate?

I'm thinking about getting a personalized plate, but my question is if i get it, then decide to get a regular plate and keep the plates can i reactviate them later? I have a feeling it's no but just figured i'd ask incase anyone knows for sure.

I am sure you will have to return your custom plate back to dmv when you get your normal plate unless you assign your custom plate to other vehicles you own.

oh yeah, if i do return it does the sequence return into free game for anyone to get? (or me to get again potentially in the future?) or is it now void for everyone?

If you want to keep your custom plates that are no longer on the car, you need to fill out form and just pay renewal fee every year applicable for that plate.

and if i do that and i eventually want to put those plates back on the car then i can?
