car shaking at high speed

Firstly, I'd like to ask a question, what is the bolt next to the sump bolt?? As I undid this by mistake when i did an oil change on my car. But I put it back obviously and tightened it up. The car makes a loud grinding/rubbing sound from the front wheels when doing high motorway speeds and the wheels feel like they are fighting eachother.

Have you possibly adjusted the suspension geometry when you loosened the bolt??

Hrm, I would be looking at the pads and calipers themselves if I were you. Make sure everything is aligned properly etc.

I agree, but how does a caliper get out of line? there r 2 bolts holding it, surely if they are in then the caliper is in line?? I'm taking it into BMW under warranty to see if they'll have a look and maybe 'refit' the pads, without telling them i did it myself

Nope, it's the inertia torque fine-adjustment gauge - should only let the dealer touch that, screws the whole geometry settings

It's the flux capacitor fine adjustment screw - it's a dealer-only job.

you must have got something wrong on the brakes, are you a mechanic? If not, and I suspect your not by getting the sump wrong, you should not be touching your brakes or anything else mate.

asking for trouble or disaster......
