N54 Direct Port Nitrous
Thought i made a thread here some time ago, but having trouble finding it. So maybe i didnt make it, or possibly deleted.
Anyway, a little something different for the masses that you don't see too often on the N54 is nitrous injection. There are turbo upgrades out of the Whoo-hah, but we wanted to do something different and go against the grain with this particular 335xi. Setup designed by us here at Twisted Tuning, some probably have seen our Direct port Meth injection setups. Moving forward, last night we finally got around to starting to tune the car on the bottle. 2007 335xi - Stock Turbos, VSRF 5" stepped Intercooler, DCIs,VSRF Chargepipe, Direct Port Nitrous. Fuel is E40 and this is on a 50 shot with partially reduced timing (mainly reduced from target timing on or E40 map without the bottle) and about 19-20psi peak from the stock twin. This was a log from the first full pass, after the initial setup. so more tuning and more power to be had when its all said and done. Starting out great though... Twisted Tuning's N54 by Justin Whitted, on Flickr Twisted Tuning's N54 by Justin Whitted, on Flickr We will post more updates as we progress through the tuning side of things. Then hit the rollers for final numbers. We are thinking about shooting for a respectable 600whp on the bottle after we toss on a set of catless downpipes. |

Very cool. Glad to see someone being different, and pushing the platform forward.

Is this a low pressure system? Reason I ask it because with the small jet sizing you would need for a direct port 50 hit with stock fuel pressure, I would be worried of some debris plugging a jet. I've had that issue with direct port v8's and small shots before.

Of course. Dare to be different. I've used nitrous in many other bulds and i love it. i'm personally no really worried about that. Yes it can happen. But its not a common thing. more so of a luck of the draw. Nitrous is injected at 900-1200psi. fuel is at LPFP pressure. PLus, this is just my base shot. will be running larger jets as i increase the power to where i want it. |

What fuel jet size are you using? It would have to be TINY to only make a 50 shot with 6 nozzles at our fuel pressure. I just punched it up in my calculator, and it said "too small
" not even playing....LOL Do you spray it often? Reason I as? I wouldn't mind poking a small shot on mine. |

I've emptied a bottle and half over a couple days of tuning. As long as you set it up right and arent stupid with it. you'll be fine.....as with anything. If you just want a small shot. Direct port may be a bit overkill, but is honestly the safest route on this engine. Let me know. I've been dealing in nitrous stuff for years. im also dealer for NX. so i can get whatever you need. |

yes, me too (not Honda, but have tuned them on it) i used nitrous on many of my personal builds as well as customers. Nitrous quite frankly....WORKS! many people are nervous about it. But setup properly and good use of common sense goes a long way with any power adder. thanks Sir!! |

I imagine like aftermarket port injection options you'd want to Tee off the fuel line before it goes to the high pressure fuel pump. Then spray into the charge pipe, throttle body or the ports.
