wat a flat review.. top gear has spoiled me.. i love my IS but not doing a golf tee mod would be a shame. The car sounds so much better after you pop that stupid little hose off.

But if you really want to hear the best sound on earth you have to plug in Procede v5 and put it into Map 3. People cream their pants < true story lol

I've gotten more stares and comments in the one week I've owned the 335is than the 3 years there I had my modified 335i coupe.

For some reason the car has a road presence that's unexplainable. Although th changes are minor it's the sum of it's parts that makes it look unique.

Space gray is the color for this car

Its strange, not sure why

I found a couple at a luxury used car dealer when I was looking to buy also. They had 2500-10k miles. I wonder if they were repos or what.

I dont understand the 335is...why in the world would you buy this overpriced 335i instead of a damn m3? close to 60k for this? Redic, absolutely redic!! Who gives a crap what the exhause sounds like? Do the bb mod on a 335 and you get close to the same note.....exclusive? lol M anything is more exclusive, with mpg close to the v8, why in the world would any of you buy this car? The black mirrors are terrible, the rear bumper looks bad, and even the front looks horrible....why are you guys sweating this car? Makes no sense.....this car is the diet version of an m3!!

M3 DCT - 63,975 (no options)

Because after gas guzzler, sales tax, etc., a comparably equipped M3 costs about $15K more. The cars are not really comparable in price.

Would I prefer an M3? Of course. It came down to used M3s or a new 335is. I couldn't find a used M3 with the color/options I was looking for.

Gas mileage on a 335is is no where close to as bad as on an M3. It's basically the same as any N54 3 series.

As for looks, that's subjective. If you think a 335is looks "bad", well, your car looks bad too... because realistically, most people think all e92s look pretty much the same.

My wife and I took Euro Delivery of our 335is Coupe on May 12. We loved every minute of driving it for the 13 days we had it in Europe. The exhaust note is addictive, particularly when you're driving in 2nd or 3rd gear through some small German town on the narrow streets and the sound is bouncing off the buildings. After the break-in period I pegged it at 160 MPH on the Autobahn, absolutely amazing! One of the best cars I've ever driven. Can't wait until we get it home!

Fair enough.....but I think the gas mileage that an M3 gets is not really what a person trying to get an M is looking at or really cares about. Its all out performance and exclusivity with the M.

Looks wise, the 335is looks like its trying real hard....the rear bumper is horrible, the older mtec kits are way cleaner, and personally the front without fog lights looks terrible. The angles are all sharp and rigid. Look at an M next to a 335is and there is really no comparison. Everything flows better with the M.

If you are willing to look, there are plenty of M's out there.....I am looking for one now and came across several just from my dealer searching for me. Privately, they are all over the place.

IMO the 335is is way overpriced for nothing special at all. The folks buying this seem to be mostly uninformed consumers that always buy new cars simply because they are new models. No past 335 owner (that has had numerous problems with their n54) in their right mind would ever purchase a 335is powered by the same motor that has been giving us all headaches since 2007.

That's funny, I've recieved nothing but compliments on my car from M owners. Not to mention all the attention it gets around town and at the dealer. It seems to me that just about everyone I meet disagrees with you.

The reason I purchased the 335is was I rather have one that's fully loaded then a base M3. I looked into the figures before making my choice and a M3 equipped the way I would like ran near $75,000 MSRP. That's not including the gas guzzler tax and higher cost for insurance/fuel expenses. I could haven gotten a used one but I prefer purchasing my vehicles new, I don't mind taking the hit in value once I drive the car off the dealer's lot. And as far as choosing the 335is over a 335i the changes it had over the 335i were worth it since I love the exhaust, rims, and the black exterior trim it had on my Alpine White I ordered. In the end it's all a matter of personal taste and I'll spend my $ the way I want too.

I can't really agree with the "way" over priced comment! If you pay MSRP its kinda high, but most can get them at a 3 to 4K off the top price as I did. And your definition of nothing special, that is open for debate. Add the extra cooling, both oil & rad, along with the HP bump, nice exhaust, and M package its pretty nice! Its a lot of little things I might have otherwise done myself, including not having to even think about changing my rims.

You appear to be the uninformed one. Every review I've read of the 335is, and there are well over a dozen, including Car and Driver, Road & Track, AutoWeek, Motor Trend, Automobile, the Roundel, just to name the biggest ones, disagree with your assessment. With one exception they overwhelmingly think that the 335is is a special car, they love the cosmetic changes, and they think that the car is perfect for someone who wants more than a 335i but not the additional expense of an M3. They love the exhaust note, the wheels, and all of the "exclusive" items that are found on the 335is. When we told fellow members in the local chapter of the BMW CCA what we were buying, everyone got a big smile on their face and started nodding, because they are BMW enthusiasts and they know the 335is is a special car, not just an run-of-the-mill 335i.

Buy the way, BMW didn't take off the fog lights to make it look better, they took them off for additional cooling, because they designed this car for people who track their cars and autocross them. They don't call it it "High Performance" for nothing. (The "official" BMW name for this car is the 335is HP Coupe.) BMW doesn't really care that you think that "looks terrible".

I didn't buy this car just because it's a new model. I researched it for months, drove competitor's cars, and decided on a 335is because it's the right car for my wife and I right now.

As for problems with the N54 engine, these have all been worked out. There have been no reports of any HPFP failures since the new pump and the reprogramming.

You're entitled to your opinion, it's just in the minority.
