Smile VFF+VARGAS-- Single & Twin Turbo 335i TEST DRIVE and BBQ/MEET/DYNODAY

Hi guys,
First, I'd like to congradulate Tony Vargas on today's day results 725whp is no joke and we know this from personal experience

I believe Tony said that he is now going to take apart the car and jig things up for production. Which is great. But I think he may be missing a big opportunity by doing so. My suggestion (and he doesn't have to take it of course) is to update the hardware on his test car to production-spec. Fix whatever he feels needs to be fixed before the kit is to manufactured are shipped to the customers. Then with his car if full production mode, we can hold a BBQ/Meet and showcase both his 725+whp Twin Turbo car and Captain Insano's Single Turbo car (set to make equal peak power).

Among the events would be ride-alongs, in-house dyno runs (with logs of EGT, AFR and Boost), looking at both cars up on the lift, hotdog eating contents and general car talk. Now we are talking full public disclosure. The other advantage of this is that the Vargas Stg3 customers can get excited by seeing exactly what they are getting shipped to them and can live vicariously for a day. Same goes with our new customers waiting for the 6466 kit.

These are exciting times for the n54. If we can set aside the drama and hate, we can have a great time learning more about cars, turbos finally put names to all faces!

Tony, are you in? Our shops are 15 minutes from each other. We would be happy to host the event at FFTEC since we have the room/parking/dyno. All you have to do is let us know when you think your test car will be representative of the final production kit you plan to sell. In our case, we should have that wrapped up by the end of next week

Let's make it happen guys!

Cheers
shiv

Just a heads up: There will be no d$#K-swinging or other knuckleheadness. Just the opportunity to show both options to the public along with some good apples-to-apples data collection just so everyone knows how each set-up goes about making 725whp. This will also give the people a chance to see and compare relative power curves instead of just looking at peak numbers. And lastly, test driving. Which will be the most telling (and most fun!) Everyone wants to know how a 700+whp car drives on the street. Like a bucking bronco? Or a pussycat that only shows its goods when asked. This is a great opportunity to learn, kick some tires and see each kit for what it is.

Cheers

yes this sounds great! There are customers -like me- who have paid the deposit for Tonys VTT3 kit, who need to get them on our cars and have our own tuners work them. This is the 3rd dyno for VTT and the 300th for Visnhu (SP?), and you want a shootout?? I'm all for that!! In fact after I get my kit installed and tuned by Terry Burger, I will be ready for a Dyno day. I know you have a few singles in the CFL area.

I think this is a great idea when Vargas's kit is out of prototype/beta and tuning is finished to make more power than 725hp, as well as improve the spooling. You have to remember, Vargas is far from finished. They have been on the dyno only 3 times now, with a protoytpe tune and kit. Crazy impressive numbers, matching/surpassing the single kits that have been out for more than a year now in production phase. Give it time for tuning, the turbos can flow up to 900hp. Just my two cents.

Pretty amazing when you put it into perspective like that, what Vargas has accomplished to surpass the current Vishnu record with only 3 dynos! Crazy stuff! Up to Tony in the end.

I think we should see the Vargas car vs the Vishnu (Shiv's) car. Why race a customer car? Let's see the two cars that represent both companies go at it! Only makes sense to me, although he does have a gutted interior that was needed. Logs are a good idea of Shiv, would be great to finally see some EGT data for the first time on their kit (Don't think it's been done before).

Based upon all the arguing the past week, can we really expect this BBQ to add value in any way? I mean I would like think it can and I know it could. But based upon all the comments, right now or soon, this hardly sounds like a good idea. If all comments were genuine then I would say this sounds like a great idea. All it takes is that one guy to say something, pow argue party.

Edit:

I don't want to sound negative and I think this is a sign of hey let's start over. Hope this can be civilized.

Strangely enough. Everyone plays nice in person. It's only on-line do people find the need to insult others.

I'm not trying to start anything because I want to remain neutral.
But Shiv, is it true Captain Insano's car is running a prototype manifold. (Running a twin scroll setup)

I would agree, a beer is all it takes for a handshake.

Nope. He is currently running the standard manifold. Same as he always has been. The 6466 and the 6262 are direct replacements. Same flange locations.

He is also running a stock HPFP. The inspect-on-the-lift portion of this event can certainly answer some questions that people may have. If someone feels compelled to remove the HPFP and dissasemble it for inspection, they can certainly do that. But only after all the over fun stuff is done obviously. There had been many accusations made and rumors spread. This would certainly put it all to rest if Vargas is willing. If not, we can certainly have the same BBQ/meet but with only one car to show off/give rides/dyno.

All the recent dynos you've seen of my car have the single-scroll and a stock HPFP.

Imagine the old manifold... that's it. There's a bigger turbo strapped to it.
