Thanks for the pictures. Two things:
1. The resistor on the passenger side is right under the headlight harness, can the resistor cause any damage in terms of melting the insulation?
2. Is the section where the holes for the resistors are drilled aluminum or steel? I'm a little concerned regarding rust.

(1.) The wire has 2" clearance from the resistor itself.

(2.) I assume it's steel that's why I used swabs to apply ceramic paint on some uncoated areas..

I'm having issues right now actually.. Damn.. ABS error.. Yikes..

i ended up just removing the resistors for now but leaving the wires and just covering 'em..
Then eventually everything worked normal.....

I doubt anything from this is causing your problems. If you wish I could look over your work, but I live in Westwood about 20 miles from you. PM me your email and I will email you back. Good luck

Yey!! Successful MOD!!
Re-spliced everything and replaced wires..

Errors: NONE!!!!

Cause of issues before:
- Possible incorrect spliced wires
- lose ground termination of the pic below
(I tried to losen it at one point because I plan to terminate the Resistor there but ended up not using it and at the same time "NOT tightening it")

SPECIAL THANKS to ALEX for his insights and for this DIY guide!!

For those who haven't removed their ugly amber light yet..
The following diagram might help:

ive got a '07 e92 335 and I just did this mod. Everything turned out great except about every 5 minutes or so of driving the warning light for "front left turn signal out" comes up on my dash and on my iDrive and then goes away. Also, the front turn signal and side marker blink faster for a few seconds when I turn on my turn signal on but then correct themselves to normal speed. All the bulbs are working so why is it sending the bulb out message? Anyone got any ideas?? And yes, I used only the best of the best and took my time (heatshrink, premium grade wire, all connections soldered and I even ordered the exact same load equalizers recommended).

Great DIY - finally had chance to do this. However, my vehicle has hyper signaling now. Is that due to installation error or because of aftermarket led side markers? Thanks

Do you have the same load resistors specified?

If yes, check your installation. You might have something terminated incorrectly..

ran into some error messages... mod works fine when the car is off and you hit the hazards, left right signal no prob. i hooked it up exactly like the diagram with the exact equalizers, car gets a error message when the car turns over, then rapid flashing, then nothing... all on the passenger side, looks like the driverside is fine... anyone have any input? any suggestions would be appreciated!

at WU99, id check the wiring/grounds for the side thats acting up. this mod works, when it doesnt its likely that something isnt as secure as it needs to be. a little time rechecking your work will prob result in fixing your issue

Mine had this problem and I think it is the resistors. The 25 Watt resistors weren't strong enough and I had to buy a new set of 6ohm 50 Watt resistors. The 6ohm 50 Watt resistors are better for this mod.
