Ipod/USB/Bluetooth retrofit
Hi Guys,
I've been searching this topic for a while and I can't really figure out exactly what I need to do. I want to: - Stream music through bluetooth - change track with steering wheel / iDrive - See the song name on the iDrive (?) My car: - 2011 E92 - iDrive, Navi prof (CIC?) - NO USB in the armrest, only in the glovebox. If the easiest way is to retrofit iPOD/USB and add up a standalone BT receiver then so be it, I read in some thread that there were options availble for changing track and so on. My car doesn't have any 6FL or Phoneprep according to VIN decode. my VIN is: E629688 What do I need, and how much coding is innvolved? |

Depends on if you want OEM or aftermarket.
See Bluetooth retrofit guide sticky at top of forum page for OEM
it usually involves adding a module and some programming . The module will be a Mulf or combox. Aftermarket there several companys make something like a Dension 500s bt gateway. Dension or mobridge are the best of this type. These modules use the compact disk changer interface. Go to the Dension website or search for Dension here to get and idea of whats involved. Dension has a coding dongle if you can't find a coder to enable cdc. Also go to the idrive subforum. You must establish if your car has a MOST Bus for the above to work I understand you may not have this In Europe as a standard option. http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=122 Last edited by ctuna; 06-30-2015 at 04:29 PM.. |

so the Combox includes all the BT functionality? I wont need any other retrofit like the 6FL?
I will open my trunk and see whats in there from factory, I guess there is some sort of box that will be replaced? MULF perhaps? I looked at bummer-tech, they are selling kits, but the are 2 length of wires, which one should I get? Is the MOST bus a must for the Combox retrofit? Or is it a must with the denson? I tried to find out, how I find out if I have this MOST, didn't find much, maybe myu search terms suck.. Need help on this one! Thanks guys! |

This Combox seem to be from a X3, can I use it anyway? Or must I buy a specific combox?
"COMBOX TCB-01 TCB ECE GPS New model combox fitted in BMW from 2014+ This unit was removed from a 2013 X3 with 30 miles!! Unit comes with backup built in battery" I also found another Combox from a salvaged car, seem to come from a 2006 E90, but the label says 2010, so it has probably been retrofitted. Is a "Combox Media", I guess this is the apropiate one for streaming music? And if I want the phone option then I should get the telematic? Last edited by sx33; 07-01-2015 at 02:47 AM.. |

Bimmertech will have the info.
Bimmertech will have the info.
Combox with streaming Bluetooth did not turn up till around 2010 2011. As far as I know you need a Most Bus for Both the Combo Box and the Dension. See Combox description on the Bimmertech website. I thought it had the phone option not sure though. See description in the following thread. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=642731 see entry 8 above. Thanks, that for the ComBox telematic, for 3-series E9x there seem to be only the Combox Media availble as retrofit kit, don't think the handsfree-phone is included, but I could be wrong?

Hmm I found this PDF from BMW. It states a retrofit kit for a combox mounted in the glovebox for 3-series.
- Built after 2010/03, as my car. - SA 609, without 6FL, as my car. Pretty nice price tag of 260€ which includes the USB/AUX socket aswell. Attached the PDF, All I need to do now, is to look in my glove-box is I perhaps already have a combox inside, maybe the SA 609 uses it somehow? Otherwise I'll need to grab one 2nd hand program my VIN. Regarding the VIN, is this a MUST DO? Or is it only if I want to use internet/live or something like that? And then I should use a VIN from another veichle which has the live/internet options? Last edited by sx33; 07-01-2015 at 05:34 AM.. |

such retrofit kits do not include combox module, only wires and sockets
you can see its contents here http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/65412152528 you car contain S6UHA Traffic Information option so it is better to check trunk under floor space for module, may be combox already installed for this option

Thanks.
I understand that the Combox isn't included. Although I can't find the special bracket/holder for the combox mentioned in the instruction manual? They don't specify a part number, however it doesn't look the same as the bracket used in the trunk. Thanks for the info, will have a look inside the trunk this weeken when I get the car back from the workshop. |

I know but I cant find the part number anywhere? Not in the manual and not on realOEM and it is not included in the kit
That retrofit kit is designed for glove box installation, so either they could include the bracket, or atleast mention the part number |

If you mean the main front console, then yes, I have 2 slinding cup holders on passenger side, it's a euro spec car, almost 9/10 E9x have them here, I think it's a standard equipment.
I read the thread here, guy had some problem with OEM bracket and cup holders, he refered to euro spec retro fit kit, but as far as I know, almost all E9x have the cup holders.. perhaps he didn't get the right bracket? There was no info/pictures of his bracket so I can't tell for sure. |

i cannot agreee with you on euro-spec and cupholders
cupholders always was us-spec car standard option but, yes - if you have cupholders - they would not allow to put combox in specified place, although there are some free space inside dashboard
