Trade 2010 for 2011 328xi
Wondering if this is possible:
Have seen a lot of 2011 328xis w/under 15k miles for well under $30k. Wondering what it would cost out of pocket to swap my 2010 45k miles, cold weather, premium, xenon, manual for a 2011 with low miles/potential former loaner. I definitely have to have xenons, going auto this time and preferably nav. The intent here would be to drive it for a couple of years and upgrade to an X5 or 5 series as the family grows. Living in the city, i'm looking forward to an automatic and also want a few more years of warranty and maintenance coverage. What do you think i should be targeting for an out of pocket cost (2010 paid for)? Trade-in value in excellent condition is around 22.5k, but not sure how realistic this is. Thanks in advance |

Your mileage isn't bad for a 2010...
Don't take less than 22k for your trade-in(I was offered that at multiple dealerships recently for my 2009 at 30k miles), you should be able to drive out with an '11 no problem under 30k. You have to remember, all the packages etc only play a huge roll in price on a brand new vehicle, usually. Once a vehicle leaves the lot, depreciation alone, kills the price of most of the package options. Dealerships hate when you mention it, but the KBB app is pretty useful tool on the go & pretty accurate. Biggest thing about going into the dealership is being smart and humbling yourself, be too standoffish and they won't work with you on a deal. At the same time, don't get took for a fool. KEY FACTOR* Your best negotiating will be done face-to-face with the REAL finance manager once you make it to his or her desk. NOT on the sales floor with the salesman, sales manager, "fake finance manager" who sits a few desks down....you'll know the difference! lol The one your dealing with in the back when your getting ready to sign the real paperwork...they don't want to lose you at this point, this is when you get "hesitant" on if you want the vehicle I'm not saying I used to sale cars or anything but.....

KBB value sucks you never get that for trade in. Dealers use GALVES which is auction value.....if you are going to BMW dealer I am sure you will get more money for trade vs going to Audi dealer but don't expect it to be 22k.
I saw a few 10-11 328i xdrive for sale almost loaded with 25k-30k miles being sold for $24k-$25k. $20k is a realistic value for what you will be offered at trade in. |
