Let me know when they are available.
You'll need to trim the boot on the SMG knob and slip it through the OEM boot and then stitch it so that the boot holds otherwise you'll see a gap and it won't look good at all. If you're comfortable stitching it and lining it up correctly by all means you can simply purchase the option A kit from me, but otherwise option B will be for people who want a truly full PNP unit.

I know that for those who are doing the SMG knob, you'll lose the pushbutton lockout, correct? In other words, it will always be "depressed". Does anyone know how the 335i DCT knob will work? It appears to have a pushbutton on it, but I'm not sure if it's a switch (like the P button on the auto 5-ers) rather than a mechanical pushbutton.
You will lose the pushbutton, but I wouldn't call it the button a "lock out". From my experience so far I've noticed the SMG knob is shorter so that it's not easy to accidentally put it into the wrong gear, also because it's shorter it'll require more and deliberate force to move it from gear to gear. Also, you the car prevents you from shifting into a gear that's potentially hazardous to you and the car because you have to hit the brake to put it into gear anyways, and also I believe the car locks you out of reverse while you're moving forward. The stock gear level allows you to push it into neutral anyways without depressing the brake so there isn't much difference at all.

I believe you are correct. Self-preservation mode is enabled even if the pushbutton is disabled. I'll have to test it the next time I have a loaner from the dealership!

I don't know what's up, it hasn't been too many days but I definitely expected a response sooner. I don't know how else to get in touch with them. I've already sent Jason 2 PMs and I emailed them via their contact form. Maybe they're on vacation?

Well they act as admins, but they're actually moderators. The real admins are the owners of this site and I believe they're Jason and Mark, maybe I'll send Mark a PM later today. I just don't want to bug them if for whatever reason they've been busy.

Yeah, I checked their profiles and they've all been active pretty recently so I'm not sure why they aren't reachable but I hope they respond soon. I sent a PM to Mark just now, maybe he'll be more responsive than Jason?
