Dipping Mirror
Am I correct in thinking that the nearside door mirror dips down when you select reverse, providing of course the mirror selector switch is set to the offside, that's what the manual says anyway, but mine doesn't. ???

I think you need either power folding mirrors or the electric seat stuff to get this to happen.
I've power fold dipping mirrors and mine does it.

not on the E90, it has manual seats with only the bolsters being electrically adjustable as standard.
As said earlier, you must have the exterior mirror pack, folding mirrors or full electric option (i think about the later). Anyhow, sadly the bog standard ones like mine (well I have leather) do not have dipping side mirror. Doesn't bother me much but sometimes I can be too far from the kerb. |

I am sure thats what it says in the brochure. Great function to have in conjunction with expensive alloys. |

Electric bolsters are on the sports seats only.

E92 with powerfold mirrors do it. I got the impression that even without powerfold, it does it on the coupe.
Carlos, the four cylinder coupes only get partial electric seats and then get stung £890 for one extra motor, BMW should wear masks. Memory settings for mirrors work without fully electric seats also. |

Well mine does it but then I have full lecy seats and the folding/dimming exterior mirrors.
Never thought of the dimming exterior mirrors but they are really good, would have them again.

Automatic Dipping Wingmirror
Before I get any comments my wife is out in the car.
When I test drove an E92 335D M sport last June it s nearside wing mirror glass dipped down automatically when reverse was selected. My E92 335D SE did not appear to have this facility when it was delivered last October. I assummed that as I had not selected the folding auto dimming option it was not included. Suddenly, earlier this week, on two occassions the near side mirror dipped when reverse was selected! It has since stopped. Should I have this feature as standard? (If so I will have to report a fault) If so is there an OBC selection for it? (no i-drive) If it is not a standard feature, what is going on!

Thanks, the devil is in the detail. Having the option at hand is useful as the dipping is good for parking spaces but useless when reversing down my driveway.

Hi Jason, you've got me puzzled now as my nearside mirror automatically dips when reverse is selected and I have the folding mirrors.
I've had a look in the manual and the way it reads by implication, is you push the mirror switch on the door panel to the position of the drivers side mirror, engage reverse and the passenger side mirror should dip. However, there is that pesky little '*' after the pre-amble which means 'depending on country etc.'. This doesn't explain why yours did dip then has stopped though. I'm pretty certain the folding mirrors have this facility 'built in' but there is no function within any of the i drive to cancel/activate the dipping. I'm a bit confused TBH now. May be worth playing with your switch though. |

All E9x have auto park dip nearside mirror when there are electric memory seats specified on the vehicle. To make sure the dipping function works, you need to ensure the mirror position switch is all the way to the right, ie. on the driver's mirror side. In this instance, when you go into reverse the mirror will automatically dip down so you see the kerb. Be aware that the mirror will raise itself and then dip back down again automatically after a few seconds whislt reversing, with the idea being that you also get to see behind you as well as the kerb.
If the mirror position switch is to the left ie. passenger side, the dipping function will be prevented from working
