Is this software only?

Edit: Just found out, it is. Kind of steep. I bought original PPK for $1500 (was able to negotiate the price that is why it's even), installed it myself and had dealer program it with something else. My dealer charges flat $160 dollars for 1 hour of programming. So I have hardware and software PPK for $1500, and yes it is totally worth it. That snarl note to the exhaust and overall feel of the car, it feels more agile and lively

Is this for the N54 or N55?

If it is for the N55, is this offered for the F10 535?

This is for N55. I'm not sure if this is offered for the F10 535 yet.

Why does the automatic have a higher torque rating than the manual tranny?

I would only do this if i was in the beginning of my warranty....... other wise just go with real aftermarket for the cost.

Get a 335.

If you get a new one you're going to have the full 4 year warranty so if it has any problems all the major stuff will be fixed for free under warranty anyways. I think if you get a 328 you're going to be wondering, what if I had gotten a 335? Dont live with regrets life's too short just do it!!

I don't get it how is this 3x the amount it was suppose to be when BMW said it was going to be $550. Its a software upgrade there are no parts to put in so why so much? Honestly for only 32 more HP its not worth it!

They never changed the price, the originally announced price of $550 was for the option placed on the car during a factory order. ie built from the ground up.

But I agree $1200 installed is too much. If its $550 from the factory it should be $1000 installed.

any clarification as to whether the tune alone is just for the N55, or is it for the N54 as well?

the $550 is for the option ZMZ when you buy a new 335.
This is a retrofit to an existing 335.
Still a rip off, given that it's only a software download.

No, I think he means they can see evidence that you had a piggy-back tune installed, even if you removed it before bringing it in for service.
