there's a Glide in Georgetown too. that is the ONLY drive-through car wash I will EVER take my vehicle through. otherwise, i only go to coin-op pay n' sprays.
i would NEVER take my car through a soft-cloth wash. as has already been mentioned, grit and stuff can stick to those "tentacles" and swirl or even scratch your paint. no thanks. i've heard rumours that even touch-less washes use a lot of quick-dry chemicals and crap in the water that can also harm your paint, not to mention worries about the tracks and my wheels...so i'm also apprehensive about those. not to mention i once had my roof spoiler completely detach and blow off the car once i got to the air-driers...had to get the guy to stop the whole machine and run in there to pick up my spoiler off the ground. this time of year i personally don't see the point in paying $10+ for a drive-thru wash when the car will just be dirty again in 2 days. I go to the coin op, drop in $4 which usually gets me about 5 minutes, and just go around the car as many times as possible with the high pressure rinse. I don't even bother with soap or anything cause the car is probably going to be just as dirty again in 2 days. dry it off, and away I go.

Guys how intense are the Water jets in the Glide wash? Im very paranoid about these touch less washes, soem 135i owners discovered that their front bumpers were repainted @port because the jets chipped off the poor quality clear coat

You could say the same thing after every wash. If you are just spraying then drying you are probably scratching it more than soft cloth washes. Spray get loose stuff off but you are then wiping dirt film off when you dry. Worst thing you could do really. Salt etc under your car will do way more harm than salt on the surface. |

yup washing once a week.... i wash it last thing at night though before parking her in the garage. warm enough in there that nothing freezes and all the water evaporates off overnight.. also i take my sweet time driving through the dryers lol and do a quick wipe down at home in the door jambs when parked in the garage.

I was hesitant because of the extreme cold, but I'm planning to try to wash it tonight...my black wheels literally look like they're painted white right now from all the salt. it's ridiculous how much they use on the roads here.
just gotta make sure i dry out the door-jambs...i don't have the luxury of a heated garage to park in.

Had to wash.. started getting irritated getting all the salt crust on my clothes getting in/out of the car, and closing the doors and trunk.
Looked great for 20 minutes. (lol)

i discovered something yesterday while at the coin-op in Bolton...
not sure if all coin-ops are the same. The nozzles on their water "guns" have a bendy section in the middle that allows you to point the stream of water where you want it. using this, i was able to put the gun under the car, bend it upwards, and to my surprise, i was able to get pretty much the entire underside of the car sprayed off. the only downside, of course, being that you can't actually see what you're doing, but assuming all coin-ops have the same type of "guns", this should be do-able, and it worked fine for me!
