Just installed jb4

I was hoping for some advice. I just installed a jb4 in my 08 335i. I am running map 1 right now. However should I be running the tune all the time? Or should I not during normal everyday driving. Just wondering if it\'s safe

No you definitely shouldn't be using it all the time. You need to turn it off at stop signs and red lights. Also, through school zones and deer crossing and on the 12th and 27th of every month that begins with "J" and "M".

Besides that you should be fine leaving it on.

In all seriousness, leaving it on full-time doesn't hurt. The additional boost only comes into play when you step on it and thats the only time its much different than stock.

Be safe and enjoy.

well of course pushing the car past its stock limit will put more wear and tear on the turbos and your engine...but its relatively safe to run it all the time. Most users running the tune have had it for years or ever since they got the car.

It will be fine, just stay on 1 or 5 until you get dp's and fmic.

If I were you I'd put it on map 5 auto tune with the cold weather you most likely will run stronger than map 1.

Anyway enjoy it

Yes, you're totally fine running JB4 MAP 1 at all times!

Question is, how much fun do you want to have, how many tickets do you want, and do you care about the enviroment (mpg)? I've been leaving my tune off for the past few weeks just because.

Get a boost gauge or use the gauge hijack, u won't really put any additional wear on the car unless u run over stock boost. I leave mine on map 2 at all times

Activation

I am currently considering acquiring the JB4, Ive been running the JB at 100% for about two years nows without a single incident of CEL's or LIMP modes. My question is if the JB4 is different from the JB3, in the sense of activation? Do you have to activate the JB4 everytime you start the car?

Nope, you just set it and forget it.

Advice

PiZaul,

How long have you had the JB4 installed? Any issues or observations? Mods? Advice?

Thanks

On map1 you can leave it on full time. Pretty much everybody leaves it on all the time. Just put in good quality gas all the time (93 octane preferably if you can get it) and just follow the routine maintenance. May want to change your plugs every 15-20K. Other then that just enjoy the tune.

I've had it for about 10 months now. No issues whatsover. Only thing about it is it's a slight PITA to install the first time around. Then if you ever have to go to the dealer you have to ask yourself if you want to risk keeping it in there or remove it for the visit. Some just set it to Map 0 which returns the car to stock. Only way a dealer would be able to find out about it is if they open up the ECU, or happen to press the volume and channel down on steering controls at the same time to go into the menu mode.

Honestly, I love the JB4. For the price and support you get its great. For my application I plan on keeping it for the life of the car. Only supporting modification I have is the BMS dual cone intakes. Which don't really do much in terms of performance, its mainly for the satisfying sound of the turbos spooling.
