Coding used lighting module
Hi, if i were to buy a used footwell module (FRM 3) from a breakers yard would i be able to use it to replace the FRM 2 version i have fitted at present? The reason i ask is because i would like to fit the LCI tails to my E92 (late 07 registered U.K car) but dont think anyone local will be able to code my FRM 2 module. Also dont fancy buying a new FRM 3 lighting module because its nearly £300, plus lights at £600!

you can upgrade to FRM3, but you would still have to code it. coding is simple. i had no clue what it was or how to code and after reading and researching the forums (using DIYs) it was simple. learn to code and code the FRM2. cable is >$100 |

the FRM2 module that I upgraded to came from another member on the forum, and he got it from someone else. no issues here with it. like i said though, you will have to code you car's vin to the module (winKFP) and the vin to the car (tools32) and then use ncsexpert to write your VO to the module. after doing this, it will be like your car came with the FRM3. i see no reason to upgrade from FRM2 to FRM3. maybe other people can chime in on the advantages of frm3... http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10957421 this is what i followed to do the upgrade, if you choose to do it: http://forums.5series.net/topic/1159...ge-lm1-to-lm2/ |

Other poster is right, you would have to code the FRM3 to get it to work anyway, and the coding for that is much more complicated than just coding your existing FRM2 to take the LCI taillights.
