Just ordered a V1

Just ordered a V1 from Valentine's website! After researching I decided the V1 would be more accurate and the arrows would come in handy! I drive mostly in lower Westchester. You guys think I made a good choice?

Enjoy the false alerts.
There are so many of them in the city that I stopped paying attention to it which isn't a good thing.

I've tested many many radars and the V1 just seems to be falling behind....is it a great unit yes...is it outdated and inaccurate YES

if they updated their firmware and operating range it would be a win...but at this point for 400+ bucks many better radar and smarter units out there.

V1 drove me crazy. I don't understand the hype. I stopped listening when it went off as I assumed it was just another false alarm.

9500ix is my current setup and I couldn't be happier. Great range and false alarm lockouts ftw

I am a long time V1 owner. Have two. Had both upgraded (actually they ship out a new one when an older version is returned). I have avoided many tickets over the many years I have used them.

Is it the best (??)...who knows. But I like to know whether the signals are in front, behind or sides. Thats my story.

I love my V1, and I haven't got a ticket since I purchased it, which is more than I can say about my mediocre Cobra detector I had before this one.

the v1 has never failed me on the highway which in my case is really the only time i need it. around town i admit i usually keep it turned off due to false alerts and that im not speeding around local roads. but once i hit the highway for a long drive its on and it has saved me countless times.

I have the V1 and am constantly researching countermeasure technology. As I see it, the negatives of the V1 are:

-V1 lacks some desirable features some other units offer such GPS integration for speed trap notification and segmentation.

-V1 lacks the more sensitive range increasing M3 horn found in the Redline and STIR+.

While the V1 doesn't have the best range anymore or the latest features, it still is the only unit with arrows. For me, I'll take a little sacrifice in the other areas for the arrows. Now, if the STIR+ were to come out with dual antennas and arrows I would insta jump ship on the V1. V1's patent on the arrows just recently expired so there may be other manufactures offering this feature soon...if so V1 would be blown out of the water.

V1 is mumm on a new product named Savvy they are working though. Hopefully this product brings the unit up-to-date.

I find that putting the V1 into advanced logic mode prevents 99% of false alerts in my area.

Had both 9500xi and V1, ultimately settled on V1 with LI duals. 9500xi was accurate but the range was not nearly as good. I hated how the many times the alerts for the 9500xi came on only after I already visually spotted the LEO. I think Escort's Redline is more in line with the V1 in terms of range. GPS and autolearn were great for local streets but not at the cost of decreased range.

With that said I do have an 8500 x50 in my daily which is essentially the 9500 without gps. But given the V1 is actually cheaper I think you made the right choice. The false alerts are annoying but if you're driving in familiar streets you learn which to ignore.

However if I had the budget I'd spring for the STI-R Plus!
