Morel Elate 5.25" (with MT-23 tweets) vs. Morel Hybrid Ovation 4" (with MT-22 tweets)

Recently I purchased a Morel Elate 5.25" on a price I couldn't resist. They also come with MT-23 tweeters (and huge heart shaped crossovers) which has pretty nice reviews across the forums I read. Now the challenge is to fit elate 5.25" in my E60. I know this is very hard job and will require serious modding. I am up for serious modding and ready to sacrifice my door cards (thinking of mounting if from outside, will seek help of a professional)

Question now is IF there is no way I can get 5.25" driver in my door cards I want to use just the MT-23 tweeters which came with my 4" Hybrid Ovation (not HO II), is this doable? Which crossover shall I use for this purpose? One from Elate or from HO?

Note: Difference in HO and HO II is tweeters (MT-22 vs MT-23 respectively) and the shape (and perhaps property also) of the crossovers.

Please suggest.

use the crossovers that came with the MT23 if you use those tweeters. The MT 23 can use a slightly lower crossover point than the MT 22.

One (actually two) more question:

If I can't manage to get it in the door cards would it need any specific volume size of box to be made (like subs) to sound better if mounting in custom made enclosure elsewhere on both the sides?

Also does this speaker means I can run it as low as 80Hz and don't need to have underseats at all any longer? That will be great and free up 2 channels on MS-8 also.

There is a metal plate behind the front mids in the E60 that will make an 5.25" install quite hard, if not impossible.

Yes, I am aware of it. Will leave it to a audio pro installer to do it. That plate will need to be cut at places to make way for the speaker basket arms to go in. Also plan is to mount speaker from outside from a raised (custom made) surface so it might not even interfere with the metal plate.

My big trouble is on passenger side there is a handle (sort of arm facing outside) which is making it nightmare otherwise it was definitely doable. Driver side is fine though.

I would just keep the 4" driver in there with the new crossover and tweeter, then sell the 5.25 as a hybrid, you will get good money for it.
With the underseat subs you don't need to go lower than 125hz on the mids, and the Morels will do that easily.

Thanks guys, makes my life much easier. I will stick to expert's suggestion and ditch the plan to botch my door card for 1.25" extra diameter. LOL.

So anyone need MT-22 crossover and Elate woofer?
