are you still under warranty? i see your cars 07, but whats the build date?

i'm curious because i'm having trouble with my injectors now, and would love to get onboard the recall boat for them.

According to the TSB (which could have changed, I don't know)....

N54 engines produced from 4/2/2007 - 10/31/2008

Any injector that has a PN/index falling within these two ranges...
  • 13 53 7 537 317-xx
  • 13 53 7 565 138-01 to -07

...has to be marked with the cylinder # then scanned into a machine. "Defective" or "Unreadable" should come back with a "Replace" reading on the scanner. Injectors that aren't replaced should be reinstalled in the cylinder they came out of, but a new seal and decoupling element used.

Injectors replaced will be replaced with P/N 13 53 7 585 261.

Gas mileage got a little better and the cold start no long have a 3-5 second crank. Went home and installed my JB4..WOW!!! Like a new car...glad I have an oil cooler.
Exact same thing for me! I was getting 3-5 second cranks and rough idles, got a recall for the HPFP and Injectors, got 3 injectors replaced along with the HPFP and a software update ( i think? or just reset the ecu but it ook 9 hours) and now my car drives a lot smoother and instant start!

I still am ( July 2011 is when it expires)

I don't know my build date ( how can I find out ) but I do have the oil cooler so I think that puts me between March/07 and July/07...

They only replaced 3 of mine - would they have had to take all of them out?
I ask b/c my work order had 3x Injectors, seal, and decoupling element.. not 6 for the seals and decoupling element ...

Btw is recall work done for free by the dealership only if the car is under warranty? I thought that recall work has to be done by the manufacturer for safety reasons so doesn't matter if you are under warranty or not.

This is such BS. I took my 5/07 build in 3 weeks ago when BMW of NA told me over the phone there was an injector recall on mine. I went to the dealer and they only did the software update (I have had no issues). Now I have to take the damn thing in again and again and again. I have a feeling this will be non stop for a long time. I'm definitely getting it back in before my warranty runs out in late May just to be safe and on the record.

so I call my SA and he says I DO NOT HAVE ANY OPEN CAMPAIGNS.

I call BMW customer relations today AGAIN....and they tell me I do not have any open campaigns...wow

Ok, so brought my car in for a few warranty issues yesterday, and they said I needed HPFP and injectors replaced. When I got my service paperwork back it states that only 4 injectors were replaced, so I assume that means they checked all 6, but only 4 needed replacing. HOWEVER, the paperwork also states that they only used 4 decoupling elements, which indicates to me that they reused the other 2 decoupling elements? Is there an SIB that states that they MUST use new decoupling elements? I'm concerned about the 2 old ones being reused and possibly failing....

Does anyone know if they will cover the warranty work if the vin does not show a recall message. I was diagnosed as to having bank 1 needing replaced, the dealer wouldn't even check to see if my fuel injectors were part of the recall because it wasn't in the system.

I took my car to an independent shop that only works on BMWs and they confirmed that the part number matches what is in the recall notice, also my car was manufactured during the dates of the notice. The only thing the shop was unable to do was scan the injectors to 100% verify that the fuel injectors were covered. Tried calling BMWNA who was of no help.

Going to take my car to the dealership tomorrow and make them scan the injectors. If its not covered then I will pay for it otherwise they are going to have one pissed off customer.

Door sticker says car manuf date is 04/2007... According to bmwvin.com my car was made 3/31/2007... Checked my injectors and the parts end 138-01 for all 6.
Bmw says i have no recalls on my vehicle... Could the production date thats 2 days off be the reason why it doesnt show that i have a recall? But yet i have the injectors that are supposedly bad?? Car is misfiring now btw

I have the same exact problem, my cylinder 6 keeps misfiring and I'm tired of changing coil and plug hoping to fix the issue.

Does anybody know the reason behind the dates.

This is just for the N54 Engines or could it be possible for other engines such as the N52?

I'm about to purchase a 2007 335i that has 70k on it. I not buying from a bmw dealer either. Could I approach the dealership and request the recall fix for the hpfp? Pending my model was in that scope or is there limitation? Like original warranty.

The N52 has different injectors (not direct injection), so no.

No, the hpfp fix, and injector replacement, has almost certainly been done - that was 5 years ago. No-one's going to replace anything at this late date.

Be careful when you aren't 100 % sure on that situation.

I purchased an 07 335i with 58k on it. I took it to the dealer a couple months ago for wastegate issues and they informed me of my HPFP fix. It had already been done previously but they replaced it anyway after I had told them not to. (I was not having any issues)

I know of a couple other owners who have had it replaced multiple times like myself. As for the injector replacement, as stated earlier, you can check by looking for the sticker under the hood by the windshield or by asking your SA to check.

There is no mileage or time limitation on the injector recall.
A recall is a recall, no matter how many previous owners there have been.

Whateva-

Take it in and tell them you have long cranks on colder mornings and that you will sometimes feel a misfire when at idle.

So awesome news! They took it in and replaced the HPFP, and get this (drum roll....) both turbos! They said my car was not being recalled for the injectors. The car still has long cranks. They said my plugs were fouled by fuel so must be the injectors. They said the coils look good, but 6 new injectors and plugs will be about 2k! That does that price sound right?
