Help with adhesive for aFE intake
I have an aFE dual cone air intake. There is a rubber gasket that runs around the edge of the metal airbox that helps make a seal against the hood that has come off. I tried gluing it back with epoxy, but the heat of the engine prevents the epoxy from hardening properly.
Does anyone out there have any recommendations of a rubber to rubber adhesive that will hold up under heat? Thanks

Mine started cracking also, so I pulled it off to remove it. Anyone know if we can get a replacement? I'm assuming it would be very cheap.

Thanks all, but I would prefer putting it back.
Anyone know of a decent glue that will handle the heat and is good for rubber-rubber adhesion? NB: Super-glue doesn't work either.

When I haad this intake installed I ended up removing the original gasket from the edge. What I used in place of it was a very small black hose that I split. It was enough that it fit over the edge very snug & required no glue.
It was still in place when I sold the intake after 3 months. |

Try a hot glue gun. I know it seems counter intuitive, since the glue is made to melt, but I dont' believe the engine bay gets hot enough to melt it.
Another idea is high-temp RTV. It is a good adhesive and will undoubtedly hold up to the temps. |

The glue gun idea would likely work too, but a little more expensive if you dont have one. Thank you.

Mine came off too. I haven't gotten around to it, but I was going to try to use a thin strip of 3m double sided automotive trim tape. I still have some left over from my spoiler install, and that stuff sticks like crazy.

Here's what the heat shield looks like with the split hose in place. Much better than the original & thick enough that it isn't going to deteriorate.
(The spot where it's mashed is where my strut brace came into contact with it) $4 for the hose ............. done. |

simply go to your favorite body shop and ask nicely. they have the right glue for these issues. bet they won't even charge you, if you have given them some business in the past , or would do so in the future.

Why would you even need to get glue when TOADHOLLOW just presented the best solution to the problem and it doesn't even require glue, also it looks awesome also, IMO much better than what came with the kit
