just wanted to know how many of you on here do.
my cars set so DTC is always off when I start the car, i'll turn off DSC off as well whenever the drive gets boring.

I once got caught off guard when DSC was off, and it was scary having a turbo and an open diff.

Needless to say, my girlfriends coffee ended up all over the window, door panel and seat. Learnt that lesson.

I always switch mine off no matter what, especially on rainy days as I think it can cause more trouble than good personally.

I think they should be left on, if anything DTC of when its raining and there is an empty round about 2 in the morning next to the m5, just saying

Even having had an E92 since '07 and an F10 since '11, to this day I'm not altogether sure exactly what that damn DTC button does. I've pushed it a couple times to see what happens, and nothing much seemed to change. I know how to completely disengage the whole DTC/DSC system, but I've never done that.

yep, i forgot which numbers it was to set it. But look up one push DTC on start up or something like that

I only have it set like that cos I personally think the DTC gets in the way when you go WOT in 2nd or sometimes 3rd gear (dont even try 1st).

dct/dsc really limits power. With it off, my 335i single pegs for the 1st gear in the dry. Im cobb tuned at stage 1. DP's in the mail so i will shortly be trying out stage 2 Fun fun.

Its not possible to tell the difference if you are driving normally, how ever try DTC on and off in the rain, with it on the computer cuts power and even tho ur foot it on the floor nothing will happen, turn it of and you begin to slide/lose traction and your car will continue to feed power. DSC if for eg, high speed manuvers, if there is something on the highway and you need to swervw it will brake each wheel individually to make sure you don't spin out(it also cuts power) I leave it on to bring my drifs back in line lol (leg go of the accelator and car brings it back). Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I'm going to assume you are correct and tell you that's about the most clear, straightforward explanation I've yet found for what that system does.

DSC by default (unless you have a JB4) is always on when you turn on the car. This stands for dynamic stability control. It is the most invasive of the traction controls and will cut engine power at any hint of wheel slip.

If you press the DTC button it will turn off DSC and turn on DTC (Dynamic Traction Control). This is designed for snow driving where some forward slip may be wanted. In this mode, it will allow some forward slip of the drive wheels and very limited later slip before cutting in and spoiling the fun.

Holding down the DTC button with disengage both DSC and DTC meaning all traction controls are completely off. This mode is also called TIMYOYO (That's It Motherfucker, You're On Your Own). This mode will let you spin your wheels to your hearts content, whether forwards, backwards, sideways, 180s, 360s, into a tree, whatever you want.

TIMYOYO is how I drive always, whether on the track or on the street, rain or shine. Be safe out there and know your limits before considering this option though.

The E-diff cannot be disabled at any time.

was stuck at lights spinning for a good 5 seconds, stopped and throttled SUPER slowly again and stuck again. stopped again turn traction control ON and stumbled away.
lucky i was alone on the road.. lol

Of course! The E (electronic) differential works by applying the brakes to the inside wheel when cornering. Normally with an open differential, when the inside wheel is unloaded, it has the least resistance, and so all of the power will transfer to that wheel and it will just spin and smoke. Because the power has been transferred away from the loaded outside wheel, you can't accelerate through the corner properly. By applying the brakes to the inside rear wheel when cornering, the power will in theory be transferred to the outside loaded wheel, allowing for better power application when cornering.

An LSD does this within the differential itself through gears and/or clutch plates etc. which is the more efficient way, but an E-diff is better than having an open diff with nothing at all.

For people with a heavy right foot or are inexperienced in the feel of the car and tyres at the limit of grip, I would highly recommended leaving it in DSC at all times lol.

Personally I drive with it off all the time and don't have those issues, even with 365rwkw and cold AD08Rs. In the dry I can spin the rear 265s in 3rd and if it's wet it would probably do it in 5th but I've driven my car enough in all conditions to know when it will and won't lose grip so when I have it on TIMYOYO and it loses traction, it's because I made it do so. On purpose.

But regardless of what I say and do, it will always be safer to leave it in at least DTC.

Just to complete Lemons research into this topic which currently is heavily weighted towards the "off" camp, I drive with both DTC and DSC safely on because I wear a hat and play lawn bowls on the weekend

For me DTC on for everyday, including the wet. I can't stand how intrusive DSC ON is.
DSC OFF for spirited driving.
