Motorline BMW - Experience the arrogance

I wish I'd known about the site and read some of the posts about Motorline BMW before buying from them. What a horrible post sales service.

The arrogance they carry about the brand and their association with it is just amazing. Do they really believe that wearing a BMW badged polo shirt gives them an automatic right to treat existing customers so poorly?

I contacted BMW Australia who said they had several issues with the dealer principal, Craig Rose, but were having trouble contacting him. I asked why they had just awarded him "dealer of the year" but they just changed the subject. They're obviously embarrassed but you would think that they would be facing up to the issues.

Sadly this probably says as much about BMW as it does about the dealership.

I think that BMW Australia are trying to project the image of a luxury brand but unfortunately when it comes to delivering they really aren't in the same league yet as their primary german competitor.

Buyer beware!

Howdy,

Can you pass on the details of what the issues were. I have a car on order from them at present and would like to know of issues you had.

PM me.

Cheers..

If you look around the various BMW forums you'll find plenty of examples of problems that Motorline BMW refused to fix.

For example you could start with the Aussie BMW Dealership (Black List) on this site and the Disappointed BMW Owner threads.

Perhaps those posters can afford good lawyers, I can't.

Exclamation

You might also want to check out Motorline BMW effed me at bimmerforums.com to get an idea of what you're possibly letting yourself in for if you've had a new car on order for some time. The writer says they aren't averse to trying to deliver old demos disguised as new ordered stock.

As I said before, Buyer Beware.

There are two other dealers in Brisbane who don't seem to attract the same criticism. If you're spending the money, make sure you're getting value for it.

thylacine - sorry to hear about your dilemma. It is never a good thing to have to deal with frustrations like those with a new car. I hope all gets rectified soon.

aaccon - i spent quite a bit of time researching brisbane dealers - if you want some of my info, I'm happy to provide it to you. Just PM me.

Cheers,

Thanks Zender.

Unfortunately I don't think that there is any intention from Motorline to rectify my or the other posters problems.

I guess when you're paying good money you tend to expect good service. When you don't get it you just need to accept it, warn others and move on. Never pleasant though.

It's funny.

I never hear good things about BMW service but love the cars.

I don't like Mercedes cars but only hear good things about their service.

I guess it's follow your head, or your heart, if you can stand the pain.

Just find the most trustworthy dealer you can.

Thats weird, i bought my car from motorline and they have been great.
Sales service was perfect, the deal they gave was good and booking the car in for a service was easy. Was given a loaner car with out a problem and always offer breakfast and tea.

I actually can't fault my dealership's service. Whenever there has been something wrong - they fixed it. Always polite and welcoming. Every time I go there they ask me if I want to take something on a test drive.

My Salesman actually calls me once every 3 months to make sure everything is going fine

All in all 5-star service!

Sorry to hear you are not having a good experiance. I've bought at least 1 new BMW from each dealer from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast and I can't complain about any of them. All of them have offered great sales experiance but I've only used the 3x Brisbane dealers for service and again I've never had any issue with them. I must say, this last car I purchased from Westside and even though they are out of my way, I prefer to take it to Westside fro service as they don't seem as rushed as the city branch.

Unhappy

Can someone answer a question:

In general do BMW dealers use standardised part numbering for BMW genuine parts ? or do dealers change the part numbers ?

I rang the dealer for a part price:

(a) Was given a part number with the 4th and last digit changed, made one digit higher. They were also not keen to give me the part number or an exact price on the phone. Mind you this was only for a part that costs less than $200.00.

(b) Their price was $40.00 dearer than the BMW genuine part number from another dealer.

Makes me wonder......

They are standardised. The only thing to look out for is LHD and RHD parts sometimes have different numbers, especially interior pieces.

Check out the parts index http://www.realoem.com/

You will see the parts are categorised based on their part numbers.

BMW dealers here for some reason are a bit funny with some parts, for example oil filters. "Yes, I do change my own oil" is usually my response. And yes, they are a rip off. For example an oil filter is RRP $30-35 but the 'internal' value is about $10-12 which is what you can buy them for from dealers overseas.

Yes but I find trade prices are still way dearer than from overseas. I have to get the dealer to go back to BMW asking for a special price and then I find the price is about the same as what I can land here from overseas or still dearer. All the markup sits with BMW Australia.

I just recieved my bmw performance interior pieces for $335 aud delivered at my door from the uk compared to just under $1200 from the bmw dealer here now thats a huge markup who in there right mind would pay that price do they sell anything here.

Getting back on the subject i am not fused on motorline service as i use westside bmw now had to get use to there rules as bmw is a lot more stricter than my lexus years at the dealership.

My experiences at Westside BMW at Darra have been fantastic. They are professional, knowledgeable and always friendly. They seem to really appreciate their customers and take the time to help you.
