Why does xi have long shift lever??

Everyone that see's my shifter says why is it so long???!!!! If I compare it to an i model it's much shorter. Meaning height wise. I'm assuming cause of tranny.

I do beleive the xi has a long shifter due to the different drivetrain.

You can always get a short shift kit from bmw performance

They don't make the short shift kit (full kit - not just shifter & boot) for the xi. I think some people have forced it into plaace, but speaking with a number of dealers they make it for the xi and it's really tough to install one on an xi.

I'd love to hear from someone who has successfully installed the kit on the xi.

I'm more concerned about the long shift than the long shifter arm.
